Dear DakkaDakka fiction fans,
I don't know much about this subject as I only ever read one Warhammer fantasy novel. It's not that I don't like the authors of the fiction, it's just every time I consider buying a 40K novel, I hear a voice saying '...-or- you can buy more miniatures...!'
Anyway, I agree the Emperor should have denied he was god while he lived. Nowadays I'm not sure, if the Thorians are right, then he has become one, sort of, whether he likes it or not. At least in the narrow definition of 'Kick butt warp entity with lots of power'! I think the Ecclesiarchy is right to call him a god, for he is no mere man, but even now, crippled and tormented, is the savior of humanity. But oh! What he will become when he is freed of mortal sufferings and passes on into the other realm? That is the final hope of humanity...in my opinion.
If the Emperor truly did call the Inquisitions of old evil, then I dare not disagree. But I'm not so sure he'd disagree with the current inquisition, as nowadays there are real rogue psykers and real chaos cultists that -must- be rooted out, lest whole worlds fall to the daemons. But maybe a more humane approach is possible, I don't know...
---Emperor bless and cherish you!
