Looks like it's off to the local warhammer stocker to buy the sanguior and the sang guard and some greenstuff. Gonna make sang so he's more the height of the other marines, I know it's not meant to be like that but oh well, does he really need to be taller than 8 foot anyway? Just the damn head, maybe bother crobulo's...

I have a reputation, Modile, a reputation as a fair, honest man who treats his soldiers well and supports them in the face of darkness. Potentially, that reputation makes me soft. It seems I understand failure and forgive it. Some, like Kowle, believe me to be a weak commissar, not prepared to take the action my rank demands. Not prepared to enforce field discipline where I see it failing. I am an Imperial commissar. I will enflame the weak, support the wavering, guide the lost. I will be all things to all men who need me. But I will also punish without hesitation the weak, the incompetent, and the treasonous.

the High elf mage set is thankfully cheap and a source for some other great bitz.

but as for leaving the moel the same size as regular Space Marines, .........I would still make him taller, it doesn't have to be 8 feet tall but he should at least stand taller then the other Marines, he is a Primarch after all.

and Horus...........ah Horus, the Bitz to make a chaos Horus are plentiful, in fact I'm doing one for another contest, but a pre Hersey one, is one I'm not looking forward to.

that one isn't bad, but the one thing the HH novels really push is that the Primarchs were larger then life, their weapons their gear their personalities, and this should all stand out or be exemplified in the conversions. Maybe I've failed at that, but it's still a goal to shoot towards.

good luck with Sang,

I would change the head on Guilliman so that he's screaming and add some chains to wrists of Angron.

This is great work though and Im happy to see someone put this together. Thanks for sharing

These are pretty good. I am personally looking forward to seeing Konrad Curze and Vulkan, but that's my own selfish desires.

My only small comment: from the pics, Angron has something on his chest. Three somethings, looks like grenades (or vials of combat drugs?). I can't quite make out what they are intended to be...

But I like the sculpts you've done on most of these guys. It's am ambitious project, but you are off to a very good start.

I would add hair to Guilliman, isn't he supposed to have white hair cut short like a crewcut? Like the use of the heavy bolter pack for him BTW, it's nice to know that his fist bolters are actually fed ammunition from somewhere.

So many uses for the Sanguinary Guard set, I think any marine player or converter should have at least one of these sets to play with.

I was going to give him short white hair, but from the artwork I had seen, it looked like I had the option between making him bald or giving him hair and since I had already done Dorn, with short white hair, I went with what I did here.

and on that note, someone pointed out that it looked like my Roboute Guilliman had just been kitbashed with parts from the Calgar set, and at first I didn't want to admit to it, but it's true, 50% of the parts did come from that set, but with reason.

First off, the twin bolt guns that Calgar uses were in fact the the same ones that Guilliman used, weren't they? and I also used the lower half of Calgar as well but that was because the whole thing is covered in the Ultramarine logos, so it seemed to be a good idea, and I'm still happy with it. Russ cam from the new SP bits, and Sanguinius came from the new BA bits for the same reason, that being that the more logos that are built into the amour the better. I like to think that the Primarch's amour was made for them and them alone to wear so it just makes sense to me to use whatever is at hand, and green stuff what isn't.

but hey, even after 21 years of WH I'm still learning new tricks and my conversions can only get better. either that or I've wasted most of my life, lol

EDIT: I just remembered, I've been meaning to ask this, does anyone here by chance have any salamander shoulder pads that I might be able to buy or trade for?, I've got everything else that I need to do Vulcan, except that. Also on a related note, can anyone here tell me for certain that Vulcan and the salamanders weren't black? as in African American? I've read all of the HH novels now and looked for info on it, and I've just not seen anything that points one way or the other. I've also never seen this issues raised anywhere, but it should be, cause unless the guys at GW feel otherwise, it doesn't make sense that every Marine from every world everywhere would be white. Unless someone knows why Vulkan wouldn't be black, that's how I plan to do him.

iirc, vulcan and the salamanders are really black, like midnight black, because of the world they live on...or some such,

"Also, as a result of a reaction between their genetics and the high levels of radiation on Nocturne, Salamanders battle brothers have dark or jet black skin and bright, burning eyes. This appearance is entirely superficial, but has intimidated more than one rebellion into submission without firing a shot.2"

Does anyone know if GW has done any artwork for Vulkan?

Cause I think the jet black skin could be interpreted either way.

wow, that's a very ambitious project! probably the most earnest constructive criticism i will make right now is that guilleman (sp?) definitely needs a bigger head. right now he's spoiling the nice look of the rest of the model by making it look like a small-head video game mod. for a guy with such a notoriously big brain for tactics, you chose a small head! the other recommendation i'd make is to add a lion pelt head (probably from the high elf fantasy line) to sanguinus' armor. the HH art always has him in gold armor (which you've got) with a lion pelt around him. it's a small touch but one that will let people who are familiar with the HH art to notice who he is right away (combined with the other features you've modeled).

keep up the good work!

lol, head too small, noted,

As for the lion's pelt on Sanguinius I did try to do it right, and I was able to add most of it including the claw but because of the choice of shoulder pads, I just didn't have room for the lion's head. But I did make it a point to make sure it was present.

Also here's a pic to show the size of the model. I chose to use flat bases so I could show size comparison.

interesting.. i wouldn't have guessed from the pics of the primarchs together that they were that much bigger than normal marines.

Yeah, I thought they were regular sized as well until seeing that picture and as these guys look in proportion, it doesn't say much about the proportions of the marines straight from the box.

Wait a minute...Sanguinius had DARK hair....so...the pictures lied to me?! WHY PICTURES WHY...but seriously I always thought he was blonde

i would have left him blonde personally. plenty of people see the art and remember him that way. not as many people will remember a single line in a book. either way, each choice is fine as one source is no more cannon than the other.

I'm not one to complain about fluff stuff in models, especially for something as blank the primarchs.
That being said, some of the proportions on your guys are kind of weird to me. Like Angron's chainswords look way too thin for him. The capes are too thick, no cape would ever be that thick. Dorn's hammer has kind of an odd head, but it'd be okay if you left it, I guess, the bolters on his other hand though, are quite big. Russ' axe has a WAY too long of a head, it needs to be widened out. Rowboat Girlyman is kind of...weird. It seems like you took a calgar model and added that script thing. There's just way too much going on there. I don't know if those chains are part of the calgar model, or if you sculpted them, but It'd reccomend getting rid of them and adding thinner ones, those are WAY too thick.

lol, wow you guys are real ball busters,,,,,,,,,,only the Emperor may judge me!!!

seriously though, these Primarchs are all part of an on going attempt to get better at conversions, and I like to think that I am. If not, then I'll keep doing it anyway cause I'm stubborn like that. As for the weapons, I disagree with all my heart simply cause I don't believe there is such a thing as too big, when it comes to these guys.

I do promise to do better though, Lorgar is next, just waiting for some bitz to come in. On that note, these guys have not been cheap to make, just saying......

cheers.

Damn it people, read your fluff! There is no such thing as "too-big weapons"! Why, I remember one story in which the Emperor got a magical drill and snared himself a series of successively larger robots and eventually defeated Horus by hurling the damn Andromeda Galaxy at him!

Actually, it's from page 26 of your marine codex.
