To everyone saying you could make a breach with tank shock, you can't. Only models directly underneath the tank have to move.

This was one of the best 40K photos I've ever seen.
Mind you I've also witnessed a guy lose three 40K 1500pt games in three minutes. How?
Well, I was in a FLGS offering a bit of impartial advice to a couple of guys playing Daemons v Tau, as I have both of those armies (plus Orks and Daemonhunters). It was starting to get interesting, the Tau player had squads of Fire Warriors in buildings, well set up to try and fend off the inevitable assault. He also had a Hammerhead with Multitracker, D-Pods and Flechettes (good lad!), Stealth Suits and two mid-size XV8 teams - a nice mobile reserve force which could move to intercept problems.
The Daemons player had deployed his Khornate daemons mid-field and was charging them forwards, as the Blood God would desire. And then came the pivotal moment: the reserve roll for his pivotal unit of Pink Horrors with attached Herald of Tzeentch and Bolt of Change. Also, effectively the only unit he had which could take down the Hammerhead.
He rolls a 5, they're in! He places them in the crater-strewn landscape right in the centre of the Tau player's lines. "I'm going to take down your tank and slaughter you!" He rolls for scatter... 11". Straight into a building. Mishap! "Oh no...." And he rolls again....
Destroyed. "Oh for the love of! I can't win, I've got nothing that'll be able to take down your tank. There's no point me playing now." "Oh, play on, you'll still have a good fight." "No, doesn't matter, you've won. I want to concede, lets play again."
His opponent, a very level headed, chilled out guy says: "Sure, ok. But one condition." "Yeah?" "I get first turn and we play the same mission type and layout to save time." "Ok, deal!"
"Well. I've deployed, oh look, I've moved all my units into the exact place they were a second ago. Your turn..."
"Oh... well, fine. Right." And he moves his Daemons again, the Tau player leaves all his models right where they are next turn and it's back to Daemon boy. Reserve roll. Big unit with Herald. Rolls a 6. Places them in EXACTLY the same place as before. Rolls for scatter. 10". Into a different piece of terrain.... destroyed.
"What! This isn't fair! I've lost them again! Right, lets start again!"
At which point I interject: "Look, you did the same thing, you knew it could happen. Just play out the game, let your armies have a bit of a scrap. It'll be fun."
"No! I want to play again."
Tau man says "Sure. Same conditions. And I've deployed and moved, your turn."
"Right! This time it's going to be different." And guess what? The unit passes the reserve test, he places the unit in the exact same spot, rolls for scatter, 9" off the edge of the board. Destroyed.
"Noooooo!"
Tau player begins packing up his army. His friend is distraught: "What are you doing?"
"I've just won three games in a row. I'm going for some lunch!"
Absolute legend.

Ok, I know winning is fun and all(more so for some), but is it really that fun to show up to a game and not even have a battle? I haven't won a whole lot of games, but I enjoy the battle more than anything else. To each their own I guess.

Even at a WAAC tournament, if I was the TO, I would be very irritated at the Tau player. I would either give them both a win or make him deploy differently.
this isn't "Deployinawaysothegameendsimmediatlyhammer", you are supposed to play a game.
IMO of course, thats the biggest D-bag move you could do. its even worse then a GK player covering the board with Warp Quake, at least with this there are some safe zones and it requires list tailoring.

I think you're wrong. It's a legal tactic and one GW has made clear works, in their own FAQ.
It's also a tactic which can only work if the Reserving player doesn't have tanks, and doesn't think to himself "Hey, this guy has 20+ Infiltrating models! I could auto-lose!" It only happens to you once, if that.

Yeah, it's a legal tactic. But if someone wants to do this they'd be better off playing "I Win" like from the movie "Big Daddy".
He could've gotten the "you shouldn't do that" point across by saying something about it, and the fun wouldn't have been restricted to one player.
Legal: yes. Poor sportsmanship: also yes.

As noted, it's easily countered if the other player is awake/aware, just by choosing not to reserve with A unit. This is a rough matchup for Tau.

The picture is particularly epic as it's the White Scar's player and a judge trying to find a loop hole to the auto lose, and the Tau player clearly just laughing his ass off.

The Tau codex isn't so bad as to need to resort to a cheap move like that. and I would think a Bike army walking on would be fairly vulnerable to Tau. they have very low model count so every lost model is keenly felt and Tau have volume of fire(and their weapons generally don't care about the higher T)
o well, at least the White Scar player knows he needs to have some vehicles next time.
