I have naturally shaky hands. Well, shakier than most people. Dehydration, malnutrition, and sleep deprivation all compound the problem, so it helps if I'm painting while in decent condition. For the most part, I try and brace as much as I can whether I'm painting, engraving, etc.

I sticky-tac my figs on top of craft paint bottles which gives me plenty to grip with my off-hand. I rest the outside edges of my palm-heels on the table edge and brace the pinky of my painting hand against the other. Brush movement comes from the fingertips.

it is a lot like shooting imo.

if you make brush contact before you're ready, or you feel tense, you're going to run into problems. usually, when i find i'm tensing up before a brush stroke, i notice that i'm holding my breath.

let your breath out, leave your wrists on the table.
