Well that is nothing short of a 'incredible project' to accomplish in such a short time. It takes me all year to paint 4k worth of stuff! I wish you the best luck with the least amount of frustration! Im amazed you even have time to take pics of the progress! But keep it up, cant wait to see more painted units!

Well, the diving into rivet madness is done. All-in-all there is 1357 hand cut rivets applied to the vehicle. Now it is done I love how it turned out and it looks so much more lean and mean than the Epicast orginal. So, without further adu here is the finish pre-painted pictures of the Gobsmasha reinvented and a side-by-side:
Gobsmasha Reinvented
Side-by-side Past and Present
This mini was pretty fun, easy and cheap to build except for the rivets. Most of the stuff you can get for cheap off of ebay, bitz shops and local craft and hobby stores.
Hull: Leman Russ Demolisher Hull
Cannon: Shadow Sword Volcano Cannon, Battlewagon coupla bottom, sight from the Ork Boyz kit, a bent piece of plastic and a length of guitar string.
Secondary Weapons: Big Shoota and a Kustom Mega Blasta from the Ork Loota Kit.
View ports: Rhino Kit.
Spikes and bottom Armor: Stompa Kit
Top Hatch: Battlewagon kit
Misc Parts: Storm Sword, Battlewagon, Loota Kit and Chaos Rhino. Rear Armor was left over from a Forgeworld Kannon but can be replaced with any boxy looking item.
Wheels: The centers of the wheels were large wooden toy wheels sold in an 8 pack at Hobby Lobby for 2.99. The card used was Yard Sale signs picked up at a DIY store. The special plasticard rods and channels were bought at Hobbytown USA and were Evergreen Scale Models Items 221 3/64" Rod for the rivets and Item 264 1/8" Channel for the road grippers. The tread under neath were a tile sheet from the same store made by the same company. The caps at the centers were left overs from a modular model pipe system but can be anything such as nuts, end of bolts, etc.
In all this model cost me around $35 USD to make.

I think you could convert him a bit to make him look more 40k. Metal "knight boots" isn't so orky. But it's a very cool model.

Well it has been awhile since I posted on my blog but I thought it would good to get back in to it. My orks have been on hold for awhile and even went through a culling of the horde. But along the way I discovered federation commander and got back into warmachine.
The last several months I have amassed quite a sizable fed cmd fleets and a fully painted and based 50 khador army. I am more gravitating to these game systems since it is smaller model counts and just something completely different. Also warjacks are giving me a blank slate to customize each jack
The issue with this customization is that thee is not much room to do stuff without making it look busy. Also this time away had given me the chance to try out new products as damp earth effects from mig. I will be posting pictures of the khador here soon so all can post c&c.

With everything that GW was doing I decided to sink all my gaming dollars into Warmachine. Going from Orks to Khador was an easy leap. I have already painted 4 Warjacks and a number of other infantry I found the plastic Warjacks kind of dull. So, I broke out the hobby knife, metal snips and some raw hobby materials and here is the result (the Warjack looks so much better in person since the light in my workshop kind of washes things out.):
I am going for the simple but dirty look like my Orks which works so well with such little work involved. By the way I won my first game with Khador last weekend. YEAH!
I will post some more later on, but it is off to bed for me. Good to be back

An update on the growing Khador Army. Sorry about some of the pictures but my camera is getting older and does work as well as it once did.
Here is my small unit of Battle Mechaniks. I still have to finish off their bases but here is the 4 Battle Mechaniks and the Battle Mechanik Officer --
Next, I wanted to build a Mercs Sea Dogs list and the thought popped into my head, "How about doing the Khador Navy?" So, I deceiced to give it a go. There is no pictures out there of anybody every having done the Khador Navy so I had to come up with it on my own. I made the choice of instead of buying merc sea dogs I would use winter guard since they are pretty much armed the same. Along with that I can use the winter guard in my Khador force.
Next, I tried to do some research into Imperial Russian Navy Uniforms of the late 1800s and early 1900s and that is like trying to find a unicorn with rainbows shooting out of it's butt. So, I just deceided to make my own uniform colors based roughly from current Russian Navy. So, here is my test figure:
C&C is always welcome.

For the next installment: Beast 09
I truly think the Beast 09 model that PP came out with is seriously posed poorly compared to their newer stuff. I guess practice makes perfect. However, I did not feel like spending $50.00 on a metal mini that I would have to cut all to pieces to repose and hope no fat guy knocks him off the table with his gut.
The new plastic warjacks from PP have seriously impressed me to no end because I am now able to easily convert them into almost any Heavy Khador Warjack I want. As with my Demolisher, the little rivets and the super clean look to all that armor really irked me. Therefore, out came the hobby knife, off went all the rivets from the model, and replaced with larger, more numerous rivets any place that I thought that two pieces of metal touched. Then on the original model, there were little nubby spikes that honestly looked stupid so put came six ends of Chaos Warrior axes and now we have real spikes.
One thing I have found myself using a lot since I have I started working on my Orks was that I am now using GW Foundation paints and Washes for everything until I need to highlight or have a super contrasting color. These two products have made painting enjoyable again for me. Before, when you wanted something red or white it was so many coats that it would make you want scream.
So, here is my version of Beast 09:
