The U district used to be a great place to find places to play like 6 years ago. There used to be a Wizards of the Coast and a badass card/comic/miniature shop a few blocks away. I know that doesnt help you much now . You might try the Games Workshop downtown....im sure the employees in there will be glad to help you find some fellow gamers

Oh I know. I remember a few times back when I was a little kid. My dad used to drop me off there for a few hours while he was at work. For a young impressionable little guy, it was amazing. Huge lifesize statues, rooms full of warhammer guys (at the time I didn't have any) tables and tables for card and board gaming on. Tons of computers in the basement.

But yeah, then I lost track of it somewhere, and when i came back here for college - I saw a familiar building... but with an Urban Outfitter in it instead. It was really a magical place... I'm sure even as an adult now, I would have still loved it... sadly, as you said, it's gone and left!

I really would prefer not to go to a store really. I don't like them trying to sell me stuff. I don't like all the people not playing snoopin about. I just think gaming in the stores is more stressful and less enjoyable because there are so many distractions. Ideally I could find a place at someone's house or visa verse where we could play, hang out, chill, etc. Talk game strategy, joke, get involved in the game, whatever.

Long story short, of course I've found all the nearby stores.. And maybe you're right. Maybe that's initially where I'll need to go to find some people who are interested in the game, and then I can work from there.

Hey NakedBatBoy: Seattle Wargaming is a good place to play. I got no pressure to buy when I walked in there, just a chance to talk with other folks who are stoked about the hobby. As for other people not playing snooping about and/or distractions, not much one can do there other than play somewhere with mature, respectful gamers- which this place seems to be.

Should you decide to try public gaming, see you there. I'm hoping to get a Dakka meetup/game in sometime soon.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

Well that certainly sounds good! I'll for sure have to go there sometime then. Let me know when you might be going next.. (either in the forum or PM) and if I can't make it to play I would still come to check out the place and talk with people.

You could always hop to the Bremerton/Poulsbo area. There are about 3 or 4 stores in the area that sell 40K there. Discordia is on the main street of Bremerton and they're pretty nice. They're helpful, can special order, and don't pressure you into buying anything. They don't have tons of stuff, but they do have a pretty good turnout for tourneys. Comics Keep is also in Bremerton. They have more comics than anything, but they have a sizable amount of gaming stuff. Gyphon Gaming is in the area too. I can't remember the exact location (seeing as how I was visiting there) but they don't have a whole lot. You never know when that little hole in the wall will have what you're looking for. Lastly, there is Avalon Comics and Games and they also have an acceptable chunk of stuff. I believe they had a tabletop in the back too. But for actual playing, I would suggest going to Discordia. I know you said Seattle, but it's only an hour on the ferry and I don't think you would be disappointed.

If so, I was never here. =D And apologies if they changed things since I've been there by the time you visit. I was there in January of this year. Hope this helps a little.

I'm looking to get back into 40k after almost a decade of not playing. Does anyone have experience playing at the Freeway V GW store in Lynnwood? From a couple quick visits, the staff seemed more pleasant than the employees at the Battle Bunker in Bellevue. Alternatively, are there any recommendations for non-GW stores on the eastside (near work) or near Lynnwood/Bothell (near home)? Thanks!
