The base on the Hellhound is nice. Good gradient on it! Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

Thanks guys just a little update. The base in stages of snow covering. I really dont like it as it stands I may make an entire new one. It was made of plaster and airbrushed shadow grey with a highlight of dark sea grey.

The rider. Almost completed. A few touch ups especially on the NMM I tried to get more reflection in it but its difficult after the painting process has come this far.

Have you thought about using GW's modelling snow?

Didnt know they made one, But I did think about using a commercial scenic snow, I just really wanted to try to create my own. Just because thats another expense just for basing and that just isnt all that necessary. Im cheap like that, I use dirt and sand on a normal basis I just want to have this one pop with the colors, it is cliche I know. The more I find the more people put snow on their base so Im going to try a few different bases out.

Any ideas?

An update on the juggernaught and the rider. Just a quick one. I did the shield and attached it. I have ALOT of touching up to do to that NMM It just looks yellow at this point. sigh, NMM is such a make it or break it technique.

Thanks guys. More work will be done. I am going to attempt to cast a base out of plaster. Using plaster, woodchips and maybe some bits not sure. A few sprinkles of dirt, and the snow effect should really make it look realistic. I am not sure what base I will put him on just yet. I do have a long base from the skaven doomwheel lying around. I may use that.

Great to see you back in action brushy! Everything looking ace, I think it was a good decision to ditch the armies and focus on showpieces, perfectionism + armies = tons of money spent on unpainted minis...

Loving everything so far, although I would agree that you should buy GW or other modeling snow, that should give the results you are looking for!

Cheers bud

Oh yeah it worked. Pics are nice and clean which really help. You are very correct on the make it or break it with NMM. I personally only like the effect when its viewed from photos taking advantage of the light source the reflections are painted to represent. It's also very time consuming. Either way it doesn't look to bad on the mini as it is. If I had any suggestion myself is just to slightly darken the shadow parts of the NMM as I think that might be what you are on the fence about and it would increase the reflection factor a bit. I may never pick up NMM in any of my regular works as I hardly paint for display purposes, but I definitely enjoy watching another persons progress with it. Keep it up.

Love the gold! If you are looking for a good snow recipie, I had one written down.

You will need: water, PVA glue, bicarbonate and gloss acrylic varnish.

Mix equal parts of PVA and water, add lots of gloss varnish and the add the bicarbonate. You will know the mixture is right if it is thick and gloopy but still spreads. I have not used it yet, but the guy who I got the recipie off made some fantastic pieces with it! (love all your work BTW!)
