I have never seen this be relevant. I have seen 1 lascanonon be relevant.

Perhaps that is simply personal, but if I had the option for a lascanonnon (equivalent) on troops I would think differentky.

I suspect it's personal, seeing as other people have had personal success with Stranglewebs.

Then I shall use them more and check for myself.

Be sure to let us know how that works out for you.

That was my initial impression, even with a few games as trials, forkbanger.

They worked out as well as venomthropes for me, but then I am questioning venomthrope's viability again as well.

Venomthropes are okay-ish, I guess? You can use them to give some protection to a Carnifex/Hive Tyrant death star, but people just shoot the Venomthropes first. Using a Tervigon to spawn screens of Termagaunts in front of a Carnifex/Hive Tyrant death star is more dependable if you take advantage of majority cover rules, and leaves you with an elite slot free for more Zoanthropes or Hive Guard, or Lictahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha, okay Zoanthropes or Hive Guard.

Termagants can't provide Carnifexen or Hive Tyrants with cover: the latter are monstrous creates and the Termagants don't cover 50%.

You attach Tyranid Primes to your Carnifexes and Tyrant Guard to Hive Tyrants. They provide cover saves through majority cover rules and wound allocation shenanigans.

You mean by cheating? No, I don't think that works.

How do you figure it's cheating? A prime can attach to a carnifex since the prime is an independant character and the carnifex brood can consist of more than one model. Stick them behind a line of termagaunts and while the carnifex can not claim to be in cover, the prime can, thus 50% of the unit is in cover and the unit recieves a cover save. Same thing with the tyrant guard and a hive tyrant.

Please explain how this is cheating - primes can definitely join Carnifex's . 1 prime joining 1 carnifex witht he prime standing behind gaunts will give the combined unit a cover save.
