Update!
Sorry for the delay in updating, but terrain making ran right into the game, and then I spent all of the next day recovering from the game itself. I'll put up a battle report in a bit, but I wanted to show the "final" product. (And by final I mostly mean, "what we actually played on".)
Saturday started off with a rush to finish up some terrain. I knew there were two hills, a building, a forest and a battlescape on the way, but I wasn't sure that would be enough.
That's some more of the "forests", and in the back you can see the hills. I can't stand the
GW hills, as the slope on them constantly causes models to fall over, so these are more straight cut and simply painted green with sand. I plan on putting some moss and more coloring on them, but in the interest of time for the game, they were used as seen. My sister actually used the fan sponges on a few of the styrene pieces, creating two wooded hill areas. I have some better pics later, but I cut one of the stems short, so she glued some terrarium moss to the bottom of the sponge, then stuck a broken off stem piece into the ground to show a fallen tree. Pretty sweet.
This is a (very blurry) general overview of the board:
The middle of the board was mostly open, with hills, forests, a giant tree stump, and an outlying farm house in one area, with a cityscape at the far end. We ended up not using any of the
GW terrain except for the buildings. None of it was painted, so it threw off the look of the table. The ruins, being buildings, were acceptable (for now) in grey.
Sliding view of the table!
