Subject: Re:Spam Marines - Dreadnought Drop Pod & Scratch-built ThunderHawk update 30/10
Redid the wing engine intake fans and mounted them now. Method was exactly the same as before - thin plasticard circles cut out, hole drilled in middle then pizza slices done almost to but not touching the center hole. Twist each fan blade slightly with needle nosed pliers till they look right, then put a pop rivet in hole, washer on back, dab of superglue on back center to hold it all together then mount in the engine housings. The rubber o-rings were popped into the housing first to help the fans sit straight.
Next is underside detailing - started with the 3rd engine intake fan grate, a spare plastic ring from the plumbing fittings and metal strips (connector housings from an old SCART cable) bent to shape and getting glued in place to help seat the flight stand. Used more chipboard (and faomboard spacers) with the right hole shape cut out mounted on top to get the lower hull to the right level.
The Hex hole for the flightstand is a very snug fit and should work perfectly, but if I ever run into problems with it unbalancing I still have the option of drilling the center to the hole on the model and the flightstand and pinning it.
Then it was just a case of filling the rest of the gaps with foamboard spacers and hot glue and detailing it up with bits.
Discovered while I was doing all this that I had cocked up much earlier and mounted the center engine ever so slightly squint - It's extremely hard to notice though and far too late to fix now anyway, so nevermind.
Done some greenstuff/milliput filling of gaps on the underside and attached the rear landing gear feet with Milliput now - just gotta wait for it all to dry before I go any further.

Subject: Spam Marines - Dreadnought Drop Pod & Scratch-built ThunderHawk updated 01/11
Not much new on the Thunderhawk lately - started a new job and in the process of buying a new house. Did manage to get a couple of hours in the other night though.
Done a bit more detailing on the underside, finished the main engine exhaust and got some cheap plastic army missile trucks off ebay that I cannibalised the missiles from and mounted to the wings.
Also did the airbrakes and I got my hands on some bits from the GW industrial sector kits that have potential as the main gun
Whilst I had the bits boxes out I pulled out some old unfinished kitbash projects and finished building them:
Ravenwing Talonmaster
Ravenwing Black Knight (made from a Dark Vengeance biker)
Jump Pack Captain
and some more Goliaths for my Necromunda Gang
Bonus! - found some old images of my Norse Blood Bowl team - the Northern Wasters - they went 7/11/1 over the course of 3 seasons in my local Blood Bowl league.
My Yeti Grendel - team went into retirement back in 2014, he's still number 4 of all-time number of casualties caused.
