still fall under the category of "toy soldier"?

You can probably find it cheaper somewhere else but how about this kinda stuff:

JB: I like the concept of a free Shrike roaming through the treetops of the jungle. I'm not sure that I like the idea of a real Shrike sitting on my couch eating my Skittles.
corpsesarefun: Thank god I missed be nice to shrike day.
greenskin lynn: because of all the skittles and soda, you basically live off sugar water, like some sort of freakish human-hummingbird hybrid.

They're soft, but not that soft. They can bended if left in a certain position for avery long period of time, but it can be fixed by dipping it in warm water and readjusting.

Violence is not the answer, but it's always a good guess.

Apologies if anyone has already suggested these, but have you checked out these guys?

I highly suggest metal minis if you are going to be tight on the budget, why i say this is because they can be stripped of paint/latex base without harming the detail of the model, Essentially starting over again. I typically use a jar fill it with goof off brand or something like that, and a old tooth brush to get other junk off, and paint all over again.

Cheap sci-fi and fantasy for now. He's enamored with Transformers, so anything
that looks robot-ish is a win. I think he likes my fantasy type stuff, too.

Reaper isn't bad, about $4 for a model. Much better than GW's $15.

Can't really argue for £2.50 per 5 of these...
