In Australia there is no media classification above 'R' (which excludes all viewers under the age of 18).
This means that pornography is essentially illegal in most forms if it's what you'd consider 'hardcore' pornography. If no bits are showing it's usually alright. This 'softcore' pornography would be rated 'R'.
Most adult video stores have a selection of illegally imported 'X' rated films, so most Australians are unaware of this. Publishing hardcore pornography on the internet is illegal here, and viewing it is questionable too. Some may recall that an Australian man was charged with viewing and sharing child pornograpy because he emailed around certain pornographic 'The Simpsons' fan-pics.
I'm not posting this because it's a stupid law, but because it makes the
OP's law make a lot more sense. As Howard infers above, pornography is pretty much everything 'sexually explicit'
except for the explicit act of sexual intercourse.
We're still allowed to have fun down 'ere. The law only prohibits you from being a loser.
