I'm a Nationalist. I believe we should recognise the the bond which our shared culture affords us. That, I believe, is 'The Nation', and I think we should celebrate it and keep it in our hearts at all times. I think it would improve our lives if people took a bit more pride in their country, and by extension, community. There's nothing stupid OR sinister about that.

I don't think 'individual' and 'collective' should be thought of as mutually exclusive - I'm a member of a family, I'm also my own person. Seems to work fine.
