Good job!

I would say worry about glue more than paint or scenary, as you could play games without painted models, but it's not very fun.

Be careful with those BEEPing gun arms.

Coming along nicely, for the love of god do not go and buy more stuff until those are to a standard that you are happy with, otherwise you will end up with a bunch of unfinished models appearing in games.

I still have a devilfish and Skyray to finish painting along with 3 pathfinders and an Ethereal.

You can paint straight onto the plastic but many people swear by spray coating the mini 1st as it helps give a nice smooth undercoat and also stops the paint from chipping off.

You may have to give the paint 2-3 layers of paint if painting onto the plastic aswell as normally one coat doesnt full cover the grey(unless its a very thick coat which you dont want).

Is there a specal type of spray paint or do you just use the normal paint?

I just use the spray from GW, yes its expensive but its almost guaranteed to work with the rest of their paint. Some people swear by a primer(it says primer on the can so you can tell the difference between paint and primer).

If it was white I was basecoating with id have went and got a £1 can from the local poundland but as im not i used the Chaos Black spray from gw as black from poundland was a gloss which didnt hold paint well. :/

To see if the spray you got works decently, try spraying and painting a piece of sprue or some spare bits.

Do you think it would be ok if, i painted the white on as a base coat?

Yea painting on a basecoat is perfectly fine, people try avoid it as it doesnt give a smooth basecoat as a spray. Normally what i do is spray then touch up any parts that still remain untouched with a brush.

Cool. um, people said to thin the paint with water. What is a good amount? I really dont want to wreck the models

It differs per person tbh, some people add more than others. Its a case of finding the "happy medium" something that isnt too watery or too thick but useable by yourself at the same time. I tend to not water some of my paints as they are watery enough already, thats citadel paints tho, but if you want to really try get alos of use out of your paints try making a wet pallete. It keeps paint moist and also thins them slightly. Theres plenty of thread talking about wet palletes, one even have a very nice tutorial, will need to go find the link tho.

YES!

I modeled a load of my Space Wolves with the wrong weapons for the units I planned to use. So make sure you know what weapons you want on your models so you model them correctly.

Apologies for talking positively about games I enjoy.

If ever going to a GW store, try print off the last page of the codex, the quick refrence sheet. JUST incase, as a few people sometimes do not believe things in the codex as they do not know it because they dont play your race (tau)

the best way with priming models is to just test it yourself. You can always repaint strip models and redo them its ifs not what you want.

Oh... is that the secret?

(I still have three devilfish and a hammerhead and 24 FW and a half dozen kroot hounds unpainted, 20 kroot unassembled... and my two squads of painted kroot (with converted pulse carbine shapers) are AWOL lol.)

Look for Les Bursley's videos in the tutorial section they should provide info about the paints.

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.

If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in.
