The stank thing is a misnomer. You will want S7 on a stank because of the 1+ save, but minos aren't the best thing to be fighting a stank with since they don't have the wounds to keep it up for long and no matter what you're using you wound of 6s.
Trust me, frenzied minos w/ xhwp still scares WoC. I know cause it scares me.

This is kind of a post to spiral this off into another dierection but what are the advantages of taking a second rank of minotaurs? With most monstrous infantry the advantage would be to take advantage of the extra attacks but is that really true for minos?
It sort of seems to me that using a second rank wouldn't be entirely worth the points since they start with 3 attacks that rapidly add them with frenzy and bloodgreed not to mention AHW if your going to use that, so wouldn't it be more effective to take groups of 3 or 4 on opposite flanks say instead of just one unit of 6 or 8?

2 Ranks is 2 ranks. Good for all that rank bonus stuff. Blood Greed, Frenzy, AHW do not contribute to them yes but GW still add in 9 extra S7 hits. That can wallop larger units quite nicely.

The other advantage of two ranks is you can cause disruption if you tag in from the flank and deny your opponent's rank bonuses. However, I would think a lighter, cheaper unit than minos would be a better choice for this. Still, it is often a good idea to keep a few extra models around in the unit so that even if they lose a guy they still have 1 rank. You can deny a point of combat res that way and deny steadfast if you get in combat with another small unit that doesn't have enough models after the beat down to form a full second rank.
So, in summation: 6 or 8 might be overkill and present diminishing returns, but I think 4-5 in a single rank is a pretty good idea. Personally I would use 2 4-5 mino units and rely on dps to win combats, sort of like bovine cruise missiles, but I don't know the beastman book at all, so that might not make sense. The idea though of having anything that big strong and especially expensive sitting in the second row not contributing full damage output bothers me.

Yeah that's kind of what I was thinking, it may pay to have a front rank of three with a back one or two models just to take the pain a bit though, I might run with that. Though I've honestly still got to build up my army quite a bit before it even becomes a problem.
