So you're only satisfied with a win when you made worse decisions than your opponent and won anyway?

Shouldn't that be the unsatisfying win? That you won in spite of your own incompetence?

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

No I think what he is saying is the game is most fun when two awesome players bring their A game and the best one wins after a close match and the loosing side simply got out played. At least its that way for me. Its no fun to beat someone because they made a terrible mistake that cost them the game. I find one way to mitigate this is to play higher points games. 1500 points and below usually means one wrong move and your dead.

I remember I was against a nid player at 500 points and I had 4x heavy bolter devastator squad, 5 x ranged terminators with assault cannon and 10 sternguard (might have been a bit higher points thing its just a guesstimate) and he had some genestealers and a ton of hormagaunts and a couple termgaunts and he charged at me with everything and I just ran him into the ground with ranged fire. It was awesome.

I didnt deserve it

My undeserved victory was against Jaon(space marines), we were playing a unofficial game that was about 300 points i had some genestealers and a few other worse units(there were 2 other people in the game 1 blood angels player and a necron player) In the end it was me the blood angel player and jaon. The blood angel had only Mephiston left, jaon had some space marines with 3 plasma guns and a heavy bolter and i had 7 genestealers and a broodlord. Jaon shot Mephiston with the plasma guns and killed him then shot me with his heavy bolter and boltguns and killed a few. I then assaulted and won the combat. and to this day i still dont know how i won(probs because he was being nice to me(first time)) and i will neva let him live it down hehehee

Attempts by Company Commanders to call down close-ranged artillery fire can result in disastrous casualties amongst the Imperial Guard. Whilst the loss of life is regrettable, the waste of ammunition is INTOLERABLE!

Devastator squad, Sternguard squad and Terminator squad in a 500pt game? How did you have any points for a HQ and 2 troops?

Also, it sounds like the Tyranid player didn't deserve to win either, if all he did is bumrush you.

600 with just what he listed.

Sometimes I remind my brother to give orders. I'm pretty forgiving with this kinda stuff. Part of it is because then they might return the favour, the other half is that I think you get better practice when each list and player plays at their full capabilities.

"Order. Unity. Obedience. We taught the galaxy these things, and we shall do so again."
"They are not your worst nightmare; they are your every nightmare."
"Let the galaxy burn!"

I'll always remind someone that they've forgotten a phase or something (like I've accidentally moved into a vulnerable position, and in their haste to gleefully put a battlecannon plate on my squad, they forget to move anything).

I rarely get the favour returned, but I'm just too nice a person.

Best/worst game I've had is where a SW player rolls his landraider up into my face loaded with 10 grey hunters and Njal. All my rhinos are hidden behind cover so he unloads the cargo...and does nothing. In my turn I shoot down a good chunk of that squad, charge plague marines and my Lash Sorc in, Force weapon Njal and thus leaving me free to lash his entire army out of gunline formation and have my bikers icon in plenty of oblits and terminators for mop up. Game lasted 3 turns ending on in my shooting phase on the third turn. Fastest tournament game I've ever had, still had a good 2 hours left till the next round. Felt really bad for the guy too.
