Since I've been painting a while now, I've massed up some spare bases. I glue my minis to these and prepare the bases my guys will be mounted on seperately so that neither mini or base gets ruined. works like a charm.

The difference between commitment and involvement is like eggs and ham; the ckicken was "involved", the pig was "comitted".

PraetorDave wrote:This applies to your table top armies. I understand basing display pieces or special stuff (my HQ choices are based), but I think basing an entire army is a waste of time/money. These everyday armies are designed to be thrown around the table (relatively not literally), dropped, and handled constantly. Flock/basing would just get ruined.

You must be nuts if you think basing is pointless. Basing is a really big part of making a mini. I personally try to make every base individual and better looking than GW's.

Basing doesn't even take much time if you do it in large batch (it takes me a day or two to make about 30 bases) and it's pretty cheap if you just rob sand from some kid's sandbox (like taking a candy from a baby) .

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.

If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in.

I plan on basing both my armies when ready, simple sand painted black then dry brushed with greys. Couldnt be easier, need to get some burned grass from somewhere though.

When the rich rage war it's the poor who die

Armies I have: Chaos Space Marines, Tau, Necrons, High Elves

Armies I want:Lizardmen, Warriors Of Chaos, Dark Eldar

Armies I may get: Dark Angels, Tomb Kings, Vampire Counts

Amodel just looks incomplete if it isnt based. I actually start with the base to get it out of the way first. i think you can be the most pedestrian painter, but if you create a nice base, makes your minis look professional!

1000 points of Teil-Shan (my own scheme) Eldar Craftworld in progress

I don't see the point in doing half a job, basing is the easiest and cheapest part of it. Also, I actually don't understand why someone would pay GW's extortionate prices and not bother to make the most out of the product.
