Time for a proper update! I started practicing my cloth on my veterans squad, as you do, and decided I would also try and practice my hilighting and blacklining at the same time. So here you guys go heres my most recent endeavours to improve my painting prowess.
Would appreciate some comments!!!

your veterans look very good paintjob wise, i am not bought by the combination of pink and yellow, but both colors look very smooth and thin. so big cheers here. the cloth on the second vet looks really good. and i like the way you did those muted tones on him. the backpack and the head has very smooth blendings.
i couldnt possibly add any advice here as your painting skills are far superior to mine^^

Both of your veterans look fantastic, love the blending of the colors and the tones you chose. Great work!

Thankyou very much!
i think the pink/yellow is a marmite colour scheme, either you love it or you hate it. I'm thinking of doing an army based around a similar scheme but im doing all the fluff and on it for the moment so ill be painting it after xmas. (Coincidentally I have to buy the army, and get some essays done first )
I think ill try using some drying retardents soon and begin my venture into wet blending. But only after I finish getting used to extreme hilighting and blacklining with me models.
Dunno about you guys but on models like this I prefer them to have a slightly "comic-esque appearance" over what i was doing before which was an attempt to be a tad more realistic with the painting.

i understand what you´ve meant with comic-esque appearance some of the blendings do look as if they´re from a comic book, the blue one(2nd) vet looks a bit as a caped version of cap america to me... tho in a good way^^
will be interessting to see your further training models...
also if you do fluff, then i would suggest putting it here on dakka as well...many peeps would love to read it...

Im currently test painting an Angels Sanguine, not sure how I pant black though. (I mean do I start with black and shade up or start with dark dark grey and shade down, then hilight up?) The fluff army is based around a lost DA recruiting party.
