I say MK VI, simply because it's (imo) the coolest and I love the Beeky helmets!

Mukkin'About wrote:Where are you getting this gubbinz about the sanguinary guard armour being mk8? I looked at the lex, and my copy of the new BA codex.. Neither of the two state it's mk8. It merely says artificer armour!
That said, my views were based on the lex article, where the armour literally looks like mk7 with a collar. It even says that the mk8 its just modified 7 with a collar! Unless you're going off some BL release i was too cheap to read... then i really don't understand where you're getting this! And feel free to show me, i'd love to know!

Artificer armour is just really well made armour that may or may not have added improvements. It can be any mark of armour or a combination of. No fluff regarding the Sanguinary Guard, just my opinion. I think the artificer armour worn by the Sanguinary Guard models looks like it is based on mkVIII errant armour.
As for the mkVIII looking just like the mkVII, have a closer look, particularly at the sketch which is by Jes Goodwin, one of the 40K sculptors. You'll see how the forearm armour is different in that it partially covers the hand like terminator armour does and there are some other differences too.

MkVIII armour from Lexicanum.

The sang guard model was a random image I took from the net, I've no idea whose it is. Nicely painted though.

I see your point. I hadn't noticed some of those smaller details (like the ankles) But it's undeniably there. I just don't see a Striking difference between the two marks like there is between each set of earlier marks.

One of the big things about the MKVIII is the 'armored' abdomen and the aformentioned neck guard.

The extra protection on the wrists and legs/ankles is just frosting on the cake baby!

And yes, Abbotoir, lightning bolts rock!

I think the on-the-surface similarity of the MkVIII and MkVII is because they are gradually closer to a 'perfected' product.
Don't fix what ain't broken and most of the MkVII wasn't broken, it's just the MkVIII is EVEN better...

Mark 4 through Mark 6.

I like the Helmets pseudo-Beakie of the Maximus Armor, as well as the Plated Breast-plate&Abdomen, And the Knee-plates and the Extended Nozzles on the Backpacks.

I Like the Studly-ness of the Heresy armor, along with the studded modern helmets&Pads. But considering it was a low-quality stop-gap armor I couldn't vote for it in good conscience.

Nothing Beats good old Corvus Armor; i had in my old Army an entire unit of Beakies; and had planned to make them My Sternguard(Still use them as such sometimes) but mostly they denote sgts.

In the end i really did have to vote for Corvus; although I do intend to one day buy several forge-world pre-heresy armor kits; and maximus will be my sternguard(likely with Deathwatch, Umbra ferrox, or phobos bolters)

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.

MAXIMUS! Mk IV has always been my fave. I ordered up the metal ones from the old mail order catalog years ago to make Fallen Angels for my Chaos army, and now I have a set of the FW models with Chapterhouse pre-heresy jump packs to make up some honor guard or vanguard vets for my Blood Angels
