Been looking through the new Space Marine Forgeworld models that show the armour through the ages. I really like the Maximus Pattern and will be getting a squad together of them. If you were to get the older Mk models which armour would you choose?

Love the Crusade style, not sure why, but aiming to get at least a squad of them.

Feeling very optimistic about the Great Crusade... things can only get better from here.

I vote for the Mk6 "Beekie", the first Power Armour I had ever seen in 28mm minies

MkIV is close, but I gotta go MkVIII. Most advanced and the face looks so much more sinister behind the armor.

Also, for reference if you aren't familiar with all the marks. http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Power_armor

As much as I know they aren't, I sure do hope someone at GW notices this silly little poll that has yet to generate significant numbers...

(And yes, I have long been a fan of MKVIII armor!)

Was thinking of making a poll like this but I figured everyone would just pick Mark VIII. It's got the high collar IIRC: you want one of those - in the books Space Marines always get killed by getting shot in the neck.

btw you should have added Grey Knight Aegis Armour.

Toss up between IV and VI for me. IV probably wins it just because of rarity of it. But Mark VI holds a special place in my heart.

I would chose the mark IV maximus armor for the helmet.

I'd actually want the Mk.VII, though maybe with some of the Mk. VIII upgrades. I guess I mostly don;t like the Neck Guard. I guess I like being able to look down. Which is kind of important when you're three feet taller than everyone else.

I don't see what's so hot about mk8 its just mk7 with a collar.
Nothing says 'knights in space' like mk3
but i love the mk4 helmets & mk5 suit looks sweet
You'd for sure catch me wearing a mk4 helm with mk5 armour
'Cuz i'm oldschool like that

No it's not, the armour that the Sanguinary Guard models have is a type of mkVIII, albeit fancy. The differences are the fully enclosed abdomen, neck collar, modified lower legs that are not so clunky and protect the ankles more, modified forearm armour that protects the wrists more and that's the obvious visual differences.

Personally I like the look of the beakies the best, but that mkIII armour looks awesome, especially the way Forgeworld has done it.

Where are you getting this gubbinz about the sanguinary guard armour being mk8? I looked at the lex, and my copy of the new BA codex.. Neither of the two state it's mk8. It merely says artificer armour!
That said, my views were based on the lex article, where the armour literally looks like mk7 with a collar. It even says that the mk8 its just modified 7 with a collar! Unless you're going off some BL release i was too cheap to read... then i really don't understand where you're getting this! And feel free to show me, i'd love to know!

I couldn't decide between Mk6, 7 or 8.

I love the beakie armour and I like the (much fewer) studs, whereas I feel many of the previous marks are a bit OTT in Studs or helmets look bad.
However, Mark 7 and 8 look so good and I love the modern Space Marines image.

*phew, thinking about all this power armour, I think I need to change my underwear now...*
