This is a Tyrant list at 1850:

Doesn't sound bad but:
Pro:
- Higher AB than a Tervigon;
- more attakcs than standard Tervigon (claws not considered);
- better armor save (armoured shell);
- shooty effectiveness;
- Paroxism (when it work).

Cons:
- -1 wound in comparison at a Tervigon;
- anti-psyonics shields and protections;
- one less Stealers unit;
- a lot of Termagants less (potentially).

Still uncertain.

So you've lost claws and a 'Stealer unit to make it smaller; not bad

Yeah lots of pros and cons. I found against Marines psychic hoods can stop the Tyrant using the paroxysm, though they can do that with feel no pain so a con for both of them I guess.

What about the Armoured Shell on Tyrant? Do you consider it important when usually the weapons targetting MCs are plasma/lasers/meltas?

TBH if stuff is shooting at the Tyrant it is that stuff you mentioned, though depends how much of that stuff the opponent has if not it's krak missiles which I've got a 2+ save on. It's something to consider, though remember all my lists are 2k so I can afford it and won't gain a lot back.
