Maybe he faked his death like the Dread Inquisitor Roberts?

Actually, the big e would have retired, and put one of the primarchs in charge, and lead everyone to believe that the replacment was the Emperor.

I just had a funny thought... What if the IoM's attempt of keeping him "alive" actually keeps him from resurrecting?

That would be ironic, but not out of the relm of posibility.

Ironic, indeed... If i'm not totally mistaken, alot of the IoM armies got totally different beliefs of whether or not the Emperor may see resurrection. I'm not too strong on the fluff regarding their faith towards such. But the conflicting beliefs, iirc, is that some sees him as IoM's dying hope - others believe him to rise again, once he truly finds his rest.
- The true irony is that they don't search for an alternative, should he not resurrect, and should he truly show to be their last hope

I would so hope GW make the decision of having him dying and/or resurrecting... WH40k could use some fluff evolution, no new stuff since a long time

Not only is he a corpse but he's also pretty messed up. I was reading the Horus Hesery Collected Visions books, and in that the Emp gets his face melted off, an eyeball explodes, Horus tears out his jugular, smashes a few ribs, tears of his arm, and more.

Poor emprah :(

Likely he's focusing his life force a lot more on keeping the chaos gods at bay and is leaving his survival to the golden throne and those who sustain it.

It's not a funny thought, it's canon.

Soon as his body finally dies, can he reincarnate again.

As has already been pointed out in this thread, there are folks in the Imperium who know that and don't want it to happen anyway.

There's also folks(Sensei, Illuminati, maybe Cypher?) that are waiting for/trying to cause his body's death so he can come back.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

I don't know if he is alive or dead.
But if you thought of him as being dead...would that not make you a heretic?'

So im going with alive...those Ecclesiarch types like to burn people so yes hes ALIVE!!

Thing is, if he dies he will reincarnate, yes... but not immediately.

This means months/years/centuries without warp travel, which the IoM can't really afford. It will mean another Age of Darkness, where the humans are separated, and build different civilizations or are destroyed (more likely)

Another idea that could be really nice would be that the Emperor, being as psychic as he is, knew about Horus treachery from the beginning, and that's why he gave him its title of Warlord, and then build the Throne

And when the final battle happened, he actually faked his death, and stuck Horus in the throne instead of him, as fuel to the warp system (what is saidin the books is what they want us to think :p *paranoid*)

And now, the emperor is back to the shadows, as he always had, and leading the humanity

(except that in that case, he was quite a sucker at not preventing the church getting that much power :p)

eh i can't see how Horus messed him up so bad seeing as Sanguinius tore Horus' throat out (read Captain Tyco's decent into the black rage to understand)

The operative word being 'madness,' though. I don't know if it's emphasized these days but it used to be said that the battle with Sanguinius weakened Horus, or damaged his armour just enough to allow the Emperor's final attack to succeed. But to tear out his throat? Where was Tycho's descent into Black Rage detailed?

And, it is also implicit in the lore that the Imperium of 40k really doesn't understand very much at all about what happened, the Emperor's nature, what the Golden Throne's functions are, and so on; and that this ignorance is doing _almost_ as much harm to the future survival of humanity as delving into the unknown for answers would be. He might be able to reincarnate, or might once have been able to. However, millennia of stagnation and agony later, who knows?

chapter approved page 26 which says Horus tore out Sanguinius' heart with his lightning claw and Sanguinius spat blood in Horus' face and said "I die, but you will die with me traitor" and then ripped Horus' throat out which is why the emperor won even though he put no effort into the fight

Let the False Emperor die! Why waste thousands of souls just to sustain a rotting corpse? I mean what good is he doing? We don't even know if it's him keeping Chaos from overrunning the physical realm, as their are many different theories as to why it hasn't. Really I'd like to see what would happen if he did die. Although, I'm sure that if the emperor did die that humanity would be doomed unless he was reincarnated as the morale in every human would drop considerably (well almost every human, some of us would like to see the guy die ) And low morale among troops is not a good thing as I'm sure we all know.

According to The Inquisition War by Ian Watson, the Emperor is slowly succumbing to insanity. That fact alone means that there must eventually be a resolution involving the Emperor changing states.

-Loki- has the right state-of-mind though. Remember, yes the the fiction is entertaining and all, but in the end Games Workshop is still a business. Businesses revolve around the bottom line. No change will take place in the current fiction until they decide it is fiscally in the best interest of the company.
