Use email to coordinate a few days (like the first weekend, or every other thursday, ect) when all the more "mature" players could get together and play each other.

My mantra:
You cannot control other people. You can only control how you react to them.

The way I see it you have two choices. You can continue to play there and set a good example for these people and hope that your attitude rubs off on them. Maybe it will, maybe it won't. Or you can play elsewhere or at another time.

Keep in mind though, a lot of humor of the sort that is on 4chan (the internet in general, even dakka) isn't funny in and of itself. Its funny because it is constantly repeated, and that repetition reinforces the identity of the people cracking the jokes as a part of an established group. What these players are probably doing without even realizing it is to try and establish a group identity of their own within the store. If all the established players just leave, then their group will outnumber all the other groups and will become the dominant "culture" of the store.

Truth. If you like the store stand up for it. Pick your preferred gaming day(s) & time(s) and stand up for them. If they show up acting like fools make them uncomfortable. Make them understand that this is your time and if they want to be jackasses they might be well served to pick another day/time to game. Your in NJ, throw a little "family" style attitude & intimidation their way.

Make em an offer they cant refuse...

Whats my game?
Warmachine (Cygnar)
10/15mm mecha
Song of Blades & Heroes

This post made my day. I expect things to get better in the summer, with college over and free time more plentiful the crowd is sure to improve. I have been playing at this place for a bit longer than a year and the summer crowds were always better than the winter riff raff.

Sihamoni takes great pride in the league he helped create, as was conveyed in his recent advertising campaign for the CMFL that stated his midgets will "... take on anything; man, beast, or machine."

The Night Stalker wrote:Well Dakka its been a while since I have poked my head around here and its time I though I share a dilema with all of you. It took a little while for this realization to hit me but its time I throw this little problem out there to see if anybody can relate. First of all I trust that most of us here go to gaming stores, participate in local events, mingle with other gamers, and enjoy doing it. However there are always those individuals that cause problems...

To be honest at the store where I play there are some people that are just great, nice, polite guys that are great to game with. But then there are those people, well to be blunt about it, the basement creatures, cellar dwellars, ect. people with a total lack of any social ability whose goal it is to be loud, obnoxious, and downright unpleasant.

This is where the dilema comes in, the second type of character is becoming more and more prevalent at the store, and these people are insufferable. they are hideous, unkempt and sometimes downright dirty, some of them constantly shout out internet jokes and outdated 4chan refrences until the conversation degenerates into something so immature I struggle to remain in the room. It really upsets me because some of the better players are deterred by their presence and the management gets fed up and has to issue warnings due to either foul language or the ever climbing volume level. The sad thing is that these people are in the 20's and older, they are not children and should know how to act and present themselves in public. This realization became all to real when in a recent visit to my FLGS I was forced to play with these people due to another day of poor attendence, and we could hardly get a turn finished without a vulgar conversation beginning or some 4chan refrence causing them all to cackle like 8 year olds. It was at this moment I started to fear I am becoming like them, that just being seen around them causes others to think I am just like them. I know that this hobby isn't just populated by immature morons but the more time I have to spend with these people the more faith I lose in this store, which is a shame because its a great place.

What store is this in NJ?
