Why thankyou swiss walrus, I have to say you're barking up the right tree. It sounds pretty much what Im looking for; heavy core of hard hitters who soak up the points on actually useful upgrades while being badass about it.

Inquisitor lose out partly because their units dont seem survivable. Even if they have special rules or wargear to protect them, the models are all too exposed. I'd like a unit to look as tough as it is. Their variability and extensive theming options are an attraction, but Im just not as sold on them fitting my current bill.

@Sephyr; the comment about model familiarity was a positive one actually, since I did enjoy my ramshackle Orks in all aspects of the hobby. Their attitude and even that of Chaos is deviant to the point of excellence, not only letting you create insane conversions, but having them still fit the armies attitude. Plain ol Marines may be one of the more serious races, but its not impossible to work some of that fun into their ranks.

I know you've made you decision, but since you asked for more info on the Crimson fists. They play right out of basic codex marines. Pedro Cantor is their SC. He gives your whole army Stubborn, and makes Sternguard Vets. scoring units. Not as many crazy rules as the Templars, but they are both offshoots of the Imperial fists. Good luck fellow son of Dorn.

I wold reccomend Plague marines, Seriously low model account with high effectivness and point cost, most of them have feel no pain, if you do, Typhus is a must HQ unit
