Everyone knows Sapce Marines only ride gigantic wolves!
That being said, superhorses are not unprecendented in 40K. Krieg horses are so genetically advanced they only resemble horses superficially now. They almost bulletproof and can survive in a toxic and radioactive wasteland.

I'm going to throw my biology degree into the fray here. You assume that the animals in these other worlds are similar to those on Earth.
On a variety of different planets, with a variety of plants and animals evolving under different environments and selection pressures, it's not unlikely that a horse-like homologue exists in one of the galaxy's life sustaining planets.
i.e. yes, there could well be huge horses, or even dinosaurs or pretty much anything viable and well adapted to the environment.

Yes, but most of these animals didn't have a seperate evolution. They're exported terran animals. Space-Rats are still just rats.

Yes, but even so, 10k years is enough for divergence to occur in animals. Something as comparatively simple as an increase in size or durability does not take as long as say, evolving wings.
It is also probable that these animals on the home worlds were different to animals IRL.

I agree and it's more like 25,000 years. Also, like with the Kriegers example they have done things with breeding and genetic modification to make super-animals.

Well, if 2 identical animals/humans are placed one 2 different worlds.
1 low gravity, 1 high.
the one that grows up on the high gravity planet will be stronger then the one on the low gravity.
if the High Gravity human goes to the low gravity world, he will be much stronger then the low gravity human.
if the low gravity human goes to the high gravity world, he might have trouble walking around let alone fighting. Astronoughts take several months to recover from extended periods of time aboard the ISS, even with the strenous exercise programs they have onboard. they can grow in height be several inches and lose alot of muscle mass. the effect of low gravity(as opposed to zero/micro) wouldn't be as big, but it would still have a similer effect.

The high grav = short, wide and strong, and low grav = tall thin and dextrous, are stereotypes from science fiction.
Except for just about every Sci-fi stereotype is based off of actual science.
How come giraffes and rhinos exist on Earth in the same gravity?

Technically, the Space Wolves aren't riding giant wolves. They're riding giant, wolf-like Space Marines.

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

Only because I haven't figured out how to mould a suitable sitting legs.
I plan my SM bikers to be riding the Tomy model of the Suzuki Skywave.
It's just the right size. I just need to make the legs piece.

The Wulfen are not and never have been wolves.
They do not turn into them.
The "there are no wolves on Fenris" line is simply a writer being a smartarse or alluding to the fact that wolves were introduced during the original settlement of Fenris.
