I started Dark Eldar because of their fluff, and their whole eldar dark side. Their models were hideous at the time, everyone cried cheese and didn't even know they were an army. Now, with their new models and rules, their speed is what keeps me playing them. I love fast armies.

I started Orks mainly...cause when i read there rule set, first i laughed to the point where it was hard to breathe, then i saw example armies of the green tide, dakka dakka, and speed freaks. I thought to my self, dakka dakka is people who are scared of getting into a good 'o scrap, and speed freaks are people that like to get in a scrap, but run away as soon as things are over and don't look for any more 'eads to krump, then i saw it, a mass of 120 orks running down a hill getting blown to pieces and still come from the smoke and win the battle...I was like HEY...MUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUM, buy a couple AOBR's pleeeeeeeaaaase.

My Imperial Fists I chose because I got space marines in the starter box, and I did not want to paint blue marines.

Dark Eldar is when I wanted a force faster than my Imperial Fists, I love the DE's look and how they play as a result. Spiky eldar >>>> Shiny eldar.

Finally, I chose my Grey Knights because I enjoy that I can make a non-mech'd list that does semi-well.

10'000 years ago, Terra was under siege. The Sons of Rogal Dorn stood firm at the gate, never letting an inch slip away so long as we drew breath. We were killed in droves defending the Emperor and his Imperium, and we killed many in turn. We defended the Emperor and his Imperium, and this is what it means to be a Fist

I started with Nids, then I did Tau for a bit, then got a few DH when they came out.

All in all I've allways wanted to do a SW army ever sense my younger brother collected them and now I can do a SW army with my own twist.

Now with the SoB rumors floating around I'll probably get the codex and some of the minis just to paint them.

I started with Orks because, I just love the way they do things. So much humor in the codex. Then i recently played DE, just cause I like how evil they are, and attack from the shadows.

When the choice was given to me that i should start playing war40k when i looked through the armies only one jumped out at me, and that was Orks only because when i think of Orks i use to think of the Orks from Warcraft (the rts not wow and i know 40k has been around longer.) after reading the codex i loved the 40k orks even more. its a race that if united could wipe out the rest of the races in the galaxy. and the only reason why they don't unite is because they love war too much and fight amongst themselves.

Why walk when you can WAAAAAGH!!!!!

I chose an SM team because they are somewhat easy to use and fun too, plus when my one friend faces them he kinda goes RAGE! on them because he declares that they are too easy to use

I play Orks first and Blood Angels second.
Orks I play because they are so fun to play. I like using crazy tactics like driving a truck into a building filled with troops. Plus when I play as Orks I don't really care how many of them die because I know that's what they would want, to go down fighting.

I play Blood Angels because I like their fluff. They are the first chapter I was introduced to back in the days of 2nd edition and felt the tragic heroes thing was kinda awesome. Plus the fact they excel in close quarters attacks at high speed is too cool.

I play Orks because a few years ago, my buddy who played in the 90's gave me a landraider, and I instinctively looted it ork-style, being slightly spiteful. That land raider is now the centerpiece of my greentide list now (Ironically I rarely field it, Hope to loot more Wagons and BW rush once my friends and I expand to apocalypse). I absolutely love everything about the orks (save their BS), the tribal-ness of their kultur, the 120-strong horde I get to march across the field behind my ludicrous array of scratchbuild kans, seeing people jump as I suddenly scream "WAAAGGH!!" from across the table at the top of my lungs.. That's why I play orks.

I play SM because they're humanity's best soldiers and heroes of mankind.
I play DE because even though they're evil, they still look good.

I initially liked Eldar but my friend was already playing them, so then I started looking at Tau.

I was told they are the worst army.
I was told its impossible to win with them.
I saw the firewarriors and Devilfish/Hammerheads and LOVED the look of them.
Then I read their fluff.

Challenge + Interesting fluff + cool looking models = I'm sold.

I loved the super high-tech, alien gracefulness of the Eldar, and knew from the get-go that that was the army for me.

Then along came Codex:Chaos, and I saw these guys:

Fast forward 12 years, and upon getting back into the game, I discover that the Eldar of today are most definitely not the Eldar I fell in love with. Over the course of rebuilding my CSM army, I realize I've bought a crapton of daemons. Might as well pick up a daemon codex to go with em.....

Finally, I've always been interested in the guard, and they strike me as the only army out there that legitimately feels like an ARMY. and thus, a paycheck or two disappeared into the coffers of the Departmento Munitorum.

Now, THAT is what a Noise marine should look like.

Why did I choose Necrons? Simple: fluff. When I read about them, I was immediately drawn to the idea of an army of soulless terminators slowly and surely stalking their victims. Then, just as it seems they have been defeated, they simply get back up, fresh as the day they were manufactured. No matter what your strategies are, no matter how you're equipped, no matter what throw at them, THEY JUST. GET. BACK. UP.

I chose Space Wolves because they fit my drop pod army better then Codex Marines did.

I'm building up Dark Eldar because they are basically the opposite of my Space Wolves. And they have speed. Hot, nasty, bad ass speed.

My first army was DE because it was in the box set, and everyone was playing marines in 98. Later I built out my marines into Sallamanders after the Armegedon codex came out. In 2000 i read a short story about an inquisitor and I was hooked. Using the first BBB, I built my Sister's of Battle/Inquisition army.

In 2003 I took my Salamanders to the Minneapolis GT, and after seeing the awesome paint jobs there, I decided I had to do better than my marines. I came up with the idea of using molded shoulder pads and getting forgeworld doors. Both lines had fists, so Crimson FIsts it would be.

I finished my sister's army and with the Daemonhunters and Witchhunters release, I concentrated on my Sister' of Battle army. Fast forward to fall of 2010, and my looking at the shoulder pads I had collected to finish my marine army. Rynn's World has also kept me painting marines and the army will be done in time for the Bugeater GT in Omaha in June.

I play Guard because of multiple reasons, mostly because they are a horde army, they have an unified feel, they are very, very flexible with their army lists, painting styles and modeling and they add humanity to a conflict.

Pros:

Tanks
Firepower
Crazed Commanders/Commissars
Orders
Artillery
Lots of troops (lots!)
Lots of modding possibilities
Lots of painting possibillities
Lots of different army lists, from ranged to melee to mech
A sorta cool walker
Baneblades and their variants
They add some humanity to a fight
Vendetta´s
Psykers
Look great as a large force

Cons:

No tough heroes/IC
No awesome killy MC's
No decent elite troops (Though Stormies and Ogryns are cool)
Can get really expensive

Also, this quote I once read on these boards:

IG players don't care if a str 10 AP 1 Large Blast covers 10 dudes. They laugh when it covers 10 dudes! I mean, what a waste of a str 10 AP 1 Large Blast!

I also like but don't play: Eldar, Nids, Daemonhunters and Orks, in that order.

Well I chose space marines because I love the look of their weapons. And the predator is the coolest looking tank in the game (in my opinnion). The funny thing is though that I hate power armor. Terminator armor looks good and so does the scout carapace (in my opinnion at the very least).

I shall rule the world someday utilizing my cuteness. And I already have one minion to help me do it!

I play orks because they have the most variety. my first pass on the list was heavy foot sloggy, and when I considered getting a faster army as my backup I realised, hey, I could just switch some boyz out for a Truk or 3, and BOOM, completely different playstyle. Tired of charging into CC? MORE DAKKA! More mech? I'll add in those Kans and Wagons. I am currently working on 3 very different Armies, all Orky. Waaagh! Drgon is on its way

I chose orks for the sole reason that when stuff blows up and explodes..its was kinda ment to happen.

Your trukk gets exploded it gets you closer to your enemy..and takes out some of there squad
Your Zzap gun gets strength 10 and a grot is reduced to a pair of boots with some smoke coming frome them.

The total randomness on the table makes every game different.

When life give you lemons keep them, because hey, free lemons
