I've only played the first one, but I would have to say Wrex, hands down.

Wrex and Garrus. Storyline wise, Garrus's Archangel had the cool factor. And King Wrex is just cool. I didn't like Tali at first, but she grew on me in ME2.

I like all the ME1 characters excepting Kaidan, who is boring. Wrex was the standout, but AShley was also interesting because of the whole Theist angle. Not the primary element of her character, but it was refreshing to see a video game character that had elements of contemporary, conservative culture woven in.
Otherwise, my favorite is Mordin.
Blue Suns didn't expect resistance. Foolish of them. Won't make that mistake again. No chance to, I suppose.

Liara ( my most favorite and also most favorite romance option  )
Samara ( she reminds me on Grey Knight )
Tali ( she reminds me on Tech Priest )
Joker ( the funnyest of them all!!!  )
Garrus ( who don't like Turian bad-ass, also reminds me on Catachan Guardsman )

On Steam Browser, can't find other Thread, but good news for Tali fans; She returns as a full time Squad Mate in Mass Effect 3.
Bad news for us Wrex Fans; he is only available for one mission.

They have said that that will be with some returning character and with some people you have met during the fisrt two games ( one of them would be Shiala, if you let her live ). They will be only available for a mission or two. Even Liara won't be available in full game to play with. I imagine that Tali won't be available in some missions to...

I imagine Tali won't be either if she is elected as new flotilla admiral ( if she is not exiled ), or if the flotilla ask for her help against Geth crisis...
Sound reasonable to me that you won't have them playable for the whole game series, they have to give chance for other characters...( they also said that you will be able to lead some of them that you have only meet and not lead )
We will see in 2012...

I imagine their status as perma-squadmates depends on the choices you made in ME2 - some things you did that you thought were the best course in ME2 might cause them to become temporarily unavailable in ME3, or unable to accompany you on some missions.
I'm betting -that- is what they mean.

The character with the 2nd most collar grabs, obviously Shepard wins # 1 as he grabs that black guy's collar within 30 seconds of the game and averages like 1 every 5 minutes.
