I think most people agree that storm guardians are not that good, but having not personally used them, I can't say much.
Also, you don't need full squads of FD to get good results.

ok jeeze swordwind...
first you seriously suggest swooping hawks, which are inferior in very nearly every way to warp spiders- even against orks.
Then you dismiss one of our better troop choices- tri flamer storm guardians, without having used them no less...!
10 Storm Guardians + Warlock- 2 flamers, destructor is actually considered by many to be the equal to bladestorming avengers. IF NOT better!
They cost less
put out equal damage against enemies outside of cover
they ignore cover
are better in close combat
they may have weaker armor and shorter effective range, but their damage for cost potential is top notch

Sorry mate. Was just suggesting a couple of strategies I've seen around that seemed to work.

I used storm guardians some time ago, but went away from them for some reason. I will give them another try.
I would like Eldar to be a little more forgiving, and have more competitive options. The learning curve has been a steep climb for me.

Don't worry too much about the learning curve, embrace the fact that when you do get it right it is the best feeling in the game! When those units link up properly and rip the nuts off your opponant who is probably feeling overconfidant 'cause Eldar are difficult is priceless. As a guide it has taken me over a dozen slow games with friends discussing what effect every couple of turns had had to get my Eldar into a respectable gaming list.
I found that on paper EML's are a good fit, but in game Star or Scatter served me better. I only need a few of the units to really hurt tanks as hoard inf is what is going to cause me more probs. Scatter lasers and the prism do a good job of thinning units ready for the DA's to jump out on and BStorm to finish off. Pesky Blood Angels with FNP and 2+ Sv? Thats where the Star Cannons come in, along with the Avatar and small prism template.
I also try to run away rather than get another turn of shooting, as I inveriably get mashed if I get caught in combat (apart from the Avater). That 4++ save for using star engines is a definate boon for running or getting into a more favourable position.
This is roughly what I currently run, with an overall winning average at 2000pts
Avatar
Jetbike Seercouncil with 3 Warlocks all with spears
Falcon + 6 DAveng/Exarch bladestorm
WSepent + 6 DAveng
WSepent + 10 DAveng/Exarch bladestorm
3 Hornets+Stones 1xPr StarC, 2xStarC/Scatter
Prism
Warp Hunter
Most of the heavier vehicles have star/spirit/holo. I tend to do as much damage as my oppo is closing and then use my speed to get out of the way, the Avatar is normally followed by the council as my thump unit while everything else dances around causing as much damage as possible.
Hope this helps a bit.

Against orks scorps can ruin his day as well. Fortune them and doom a boys unit. The result isn't pretty for the ork.
In one game I carved up 3 30 man boys squads with a loss of 3 scorps.

A Wraithlord will tie up his units if you can mind war the one with the klaw. Then you can charge in scorpions to thin the herd.

Never take a single Fire Prism. With no other pieces of armour on the board it's gonna draw alot of AT fire, not to mention you'll never get to use it's special rule.
For the Wave Serpents, dont go with Starcannons. It's only good for killing MANz, but that job is actually better done by Fire Dragons after they smoke the Killa Kanz (higher strength can ID Nobz and you'll be wounding Thraka on a 2+ instead of a 3 and more shots to either kill more Nobz or deal more damage to the Eternal Warrior Thraka). Go with a Scatter Laser or Eldar Missile Launcher instead, which can help clear hordes (and in the case of the EML, destroy light ork vehicles).
I wouldnt give the Scorpions a Wave Serpent at all, unless you intend on carrying something else in it. Scorpions need to get the charge the minute they outflank, which they cant do if they disembark from a Wave Serpent.

I don't understand why people think that the missile launcher is better at dealing with light vehicles. It confuses me immensely... the scatter is unequivocally better against vehicles up until av12... quantity is better than quality. I later ran the numbers for the humble Shuri Cannon. The 3 shot shuri cannon is only outperformed by the missile at destroying av11 (but still has a higher chance of immobilizing av11), and against av12.

EML more or less gives you options, being capable of destroying superior armor and having the Frag Missile option, which can deal with medium-armored infantry better than the scatter laser.
