When you look at the fact that certain video games got movies that millions of people watched, but the movies were totally lame.

in contrast, 40k would actually be able to make a good movie(unlike Starcraft and Halo) with compelling plot, great setting, and depth of background that could actually support many many movies.



I think the main reson there hasn't been a major movie before now is because GW is very stingy with their IP. GW is actually approached all the time with movie offers, but the GW corperates don't want one.

While I really like the HH books, i don't think a movie is a good idea, there would be no possible way to please everyone. Too much source material. It would be Alien VS Predator all over again.

As much as I hate to agree with anyone who would insult the blessed Primarch, I must admit, it's for the best that GW is so stingy.

Other franchises such as Star Wars have had contradicting background ranging from inventive to plain idiotic because of the openess of the IP. Though this can (rarely) produce something great, for the most part this can lead to over-ambitious and under-informed directors/writers/developers that won't create something respectful to the franchise.

I don't think HBO will make a tv series. Whilst I admit Game of Thrones is brilliant and I also enjoyed Harpers Island the buget is so different. HBO is better at drama. I am thinking the BBC might do a decent job of it, alot of their shows have really good Cgi.

My vote gos for HBO/Stars/Showtime.

But there are no women/sex.......so no love story and much less drama

I think Gaunt's Ghosts would make a MUCH better movie/ tv show. The characters are all more relatable than any Space Marine, and all the main characters are normal humans so the CG bills wouldn't be quite as high. Plus, to satisfy the tv execs, in the later books there are even some romance elements for them to throw in.
