Are Melta Bombs subject to the WYSIWYG rule?
Yes. If they're on your list they MUST be displayed on the model.
No. As long as it's pointed out at the start I don't mind.

They look like little oval-ish cylinders with a handle on top, like this:

Most kits only come with one or two, if that. They are rather unwieldy and hard to find space for on a model, too. The only way I've seen it done is to glue it into a marine's left hand, with them holding onto the handle, which then makes you give them a holster for their pistol.

So basicly, when I give them Imperial Guard sergeants meltabombs, they walk around with bombs that cannot be glued onto their body?

Well, one possibility is to put the meltabomb on the models backpack ( if he has one ).

I more meant that it's not possible to model Meltabombs on IG sergeants.

On second thought: Although it's possible, it's quite expensive, you have to order Space Marine meltabombs from specialists websites who sell bitz.

I don't play IG, but on google images I noticed that there is an alternate design (see below). Might this be an IG version?

You don't have to, although personally I would. Not on the whole squad. Maybe have 2 or 3 guys with them.

If it's an upgrade you should model it.
If it's basic gear it's fine.

Probably work

For IG, I see no reason why a brightly colored canister made from GS (or even just a differently colored grenade) hanging off the belt couldn't be called a 'melta bomb'. Just call it a 'loner pattern meltabomb'.

Right now I use normal grenades, shaving the original ''pineapple'' skin away and paint them grey. Different, yet the same.

No, for two reasons.

A: They're generally on the sarges, which are easy to identify.
B: Where do you get the bit for them, I've never seen them,
