I love all thing Marine and land speeders are cool bricks.
But like you say put wheels on the and you've tapped on some thing better.

I have always loved the landspeeders since the 2nd edition ones. The current ones are even better.

Remember, they don't need to be insanely aerodynamic when they are anti-grav. It's just a floating object that engines are pushing.

This requires the crew to wear power armor, which adds to the speeder's overall weight and power usage.
You may argue that wearing armor allow the crew to hop out and fight on foot if their fragile speeder gets popped, but this is clearly not within the scope of the tabletop game.

Neither is fuel usage. What's your point? Fuel sources in 40K, at least as far as the Marines are concerned, are inexhaustible. They have so much power at their disposal that they can throw starships around without having to bother with little things like the laws of physics, and power their tanks and suits of armour for thousands of years off a single 'battery'.

Power usage is so far down on the list of concerns that it's not even worth mentioning.

"Did you ever notice how in the Bible, when ever God needed to punish someone, or make an example, or whenever God needed a killing, he sent an angel? Did you ever wonder what a creature like that must be like? A whole existence spent praising your God, but always with one wing dipped in blood. Would you ever really want to see an angel?"
