nobody ever answered my question about how to print these out. anybody? what size paper is right 8.5x11 just looked too small, maybe it'll be the right size put together but I haven't really seen a lot of official drop pods to compare

Do not use the CLEAR dice!

Dear Whiny Space Marine Players,
you get 3+ armor saves on all your troops (save scouts), Assault cannons, a huge assortment of vehicles and weapons, arguably one of the best if not THE best tank in the game, funny helmets, and a partrige in a pear tree.

suck it up, space marines. You're the emperor's chosen superhuman warriors. stop whining like a guardsmen and take it like a superman!

Is a 20 month old thread some kind of record for thread necromancy?

Possibly. I have an 8 month old entry/response when I first started posting, and Iorek was kind enough to play the 'Magic-Thread Necromancy card on me.

My deck still hasn't recovered.

But to go OT-that is a way cool Transformers Dread/DP. Good on 'im.

I'm sorry, but I'm not going to agree with the majority here. The drop pod is nice, and the modeling is good in a technical sense, I really do not like this. This is Warhammer 40k, not Transformers. Therefore the reason for my dislike is a matter of theme. When I play 40k, I want to imagine my warriors doing battle in ruined gothic cities against warp spawned monstrosities, I don't want to see a transformer walking over the next hill. I'm not going to jump on the bandwagon because everyone has decided to flame the one dissenting opinion ( to which I am adding my voice). No offense, but I would not want to play against this army, though I probably would anyhow just to enjoy a game. I never liked transformers when I was a kid, but if I had, the idea of playing with them probably would have worn off around the time I was 10 years old. I would not want to be seen playing against this army, definitely not be seen playing with it. Incidentally, the fact that a very large budget motion picture was made featuring Transformers that was extremely popular, and as far as I could tell marketed to "adults", is extremely infantile and reflects pretty poorly on the American public's taste in cinematic art.

Great pod! Not a fan of the painting (flat surfaces are hard to do) but love the construction job. I think I have those templates somewhere in my e-mail if anyone is interested.

As to the sizing issue.... You have to play around with the printing to get it to the correct size.

How tall is that pod?

Nobody went to see Transformers expecting 'cinematic art'... they just went to see a movie that brought back pleasant memories from their childhood, and involved giant robots and a lot of stuff blowing up.

If that's not your thing, all well and good. Everybody's tastes are different. There's no need to insult everyone who's tastes are different to yours... not if you want to leave yourself any free time for anything that actually matters, at least.

That's word insaniak.

So Grignard, what you're saying is that anyone who likes the Transformers is either 10 years old or infantile and that is what detracts from your enjoyment of pushing your little toys around the tabletop and imagining they are in space shooting each other.

Scale-wise with the Forgeworld model, infantry drop pods should be about 5-5/8" or 145mm tall. Dreadnought pods should be about 7-1/4" or 185mm. If you have access to a copier with a scale function you should be able to figure the math and scale it up properly.

As far as the paint and army theme go, I've never been a big fan of 40K armies themed after anything not from the 40K universe. I've seen Spartan marines, panda marines, samurai marines, Dukes of Hazzard speed freeks and guard armies from WW1 and WW2. My biggest thrill is playing with, and against an army that makes me hear the cries, feel the fire and smell the blood/ichor.

That said, if somone goes to the effort of modeling and painting an army on the Pittsburg Steelers or the New York Fire Department, kudos to them. It's their creative effort and I applaud them for it. I would still prefer to play against the Flesh Tearers or the Goff clan, but I'm happy to allow them their pride.

If more of us valued food and cheer and 40K over hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1
