it would be awesome if GW did a space combat game with little ships that look like flying churches.
or maybe a 40k gang related skirmish game, and a maybe a fantasy one as well for those who prefer that genre.
or maybe even go all out and make 54mm model skirmish games, that would be awesome.
and if GW could support them all in store and in WD that would be great.
why do these ideas sound familiar I wonder?

An FPS like Republic Commando would be quite good.
Like, a well done version.
IE: You play as one character in a massive battle, doing various things. Maybe a squad based one, where you give orders or something.

You know, I didn't think it was all that hard, even with alll realism settings turned all the way up, and I flew pretty much every plane on there. Can't wait to get cliffs of dover.

Ruthless Interrogator

A game that picks up on the gritty nature and epic scale of 40k.
You start as a Cadian conscript screaming as you charge into the midst of an enemy army on what's most like a suicide mission, but miraculously you survive and begin advancing through the ranks (preferably in the middle of an epic battle against an uprising of Khornish Cultists) to the point where you command a whole squad of the campaign's finest veterans. With squad members who are actually as useful as yourself and have distinct personalities, so you actually feel sad when they die. And progressive wargear unlocking and leveling up, and a good story that is affected by your decisions. But without that "lulz i kilz gwater demon lulz" bullcrap from fire warrior. Everything is done with help from your squad, possibly a psyker or commisar you can attach.
You and your squad take on hordes of screaming cultists with little to no traing, and maybe with a CSM or bloodletter squad as the most challenging fights, and a chaos sorcerer as a boss. At the climax, there's a whole massive fight involving super heavy tanksand things like strafing runs and artillery that you can call in, with you stuck in the middle of it desperately trying to stay alive. Slowly your squad is picked off one by one, until you and 2 key characters remain. Then the game ends as the survivors yell "For the Emporer!" and charge in a blaze of glory at a Bloodthirster and horde of snarling Daemons.

I love the Idea of a sandbox game.
Prehaps some sort of character selection at the start of the game:
Imperial Guard/Inquisition/Rogue Trager
It could include quests, party building, hand to hand combat, ranged combat, space flight.
Oh, how I wish I had the power to create something like this.
