For that particular situation?
Yes. Superglue would be that quick of a fix. So would a filler like Squadron Putty.

In that particular situation: the air bubbles aren't raised obscuring features. They're depressed into the surface, meaning it's just really really small pores that need to be filled. Cyanoacrylate superglue would do the job.

You may find the very small ones disappear under some primer

I've never had to use cyanoacrylate adhesive to fill air bubbles in my metal figures.

If I am going to pay 25% extra for Finecast, I want a model which is better than the old one.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Sadly these problems were all the ones I was worried about :(

GW staff assured me they wouldn't be an issue, but the first thing I see on the net is confirmation of them.

Thanks for doing the legwork for this review, I think I'll invest in more metal models for the time being.

Well, I popped into my store this morning, and to be perfectly honest, I was impressed. The only thing I found that put me off were those resin streaky-stringy things, but that's a minor issue. I am not a plant. No photosynthesis.

Squatting with the squigs

this advice from citadel page worries me

Gluing: Always use Super Glue on Citadel Finecast miniatures and not Plastic Glue. The bond that can be achieved with just a small dab of Super Glue is so strong that large components such as wings can be glued quickly and without the need for pinning.

Durability: Citadel Finecast is light and strong. As an example, the Citadel Finecast Azhag the Slaughterer was dropped from a height of 3 feet (alright, I accidentally knocked it off my desk) and it landed on the floor totally unharmed. If that had been the metal version of the miniature, I'd have spent the rest of the day pinning, gluing and repainting it! If you don't believe me, click on the picture and you can see how just how flexible the resin is as I bend Skulltaker's sword.

Gluing: Without pinning, really? Oh you must not be talking about gw glue then, i see.

Durability: I just cannnot figure out how paint is sposed to stay on something bendy! any ideas?

Acrylic paint is generally fairly elastic
Given that paintings on canvas can be rolled up without damage is an indicator that it should be okay.

However, this question has already been raised and someone mentioned the varnish.

It frankly all depends on the polymers used in the type of paint and varnish (also primer if used)
My guess is that Citadel Paints will be fine. Tamiya which not many if anyone uses could be a problem.
Not that familiar with the likes of Vallejo tbh, but it should be okay.

As for the varnishes no idea at present, and Hardcote may be a problem

please note this is purely speculative and until someone does some tests on the sprues we will have to wait and see.

I wouldn't get too worried at this stage
hth some

ps GW are not as they seem to imply the only chaps with this sort of resin, and other sources say the same about gluing

So it is in all likelihood correct

I am thoroughly disappointed with the new "finecast" minis. I went to the launch at my loval GW yesterday and was invited to assemble the new finecast 'Queek head taker'. I stopped about half way through...there were several bubbles across the body of the figure and the tale and base had snapped off. Also the 'Carnis wolf born' they had on display was well bellow par.

After saying all this there were some fairly nice minis as well particularly 'Astorath' and 'Coteaz'. Overall its all a bit too hit and miss for my liking...just be careful when selecting minis off the shelf.
