Spaten Optimator. Best beer I've ever drunk, hands down.

I've never had a bad oatmeal stout, though I can't recall the names of any of them. It doesn't really matter, because they all taste more or less identical: like slightly smoother guinness, with a stronger chocolate/coffee flavor.

I suppose I should include the assorted "generic american beers" and more generally pale lagers and anything like them. They're certainly rock bottom as far as beers go, but that still puts them quite a bit above even the best wines I've had, and certainly above liquor as far as flavor is concerned, though that's a much better way to get wasted fast.

At the moment I'm drinking instant tea made using brewed tea instead of water, but it's not particularly good, just a not particularly noxious way of getting massive doses of caffeine.

Oh..Indeed it does.
As a youngster I drank enough instant iced tea to float a fleet of ships on...which is one of the chief reasons I can't stand the sight/smell or taste of tea now.

Oh yes...there was plenty of instant "hot" tea as well, though in the American South (were I grew up) it's not a "favored" beverage.

@ alarmingrick...That!!...that stuff is vile beyond comprehension ... as a child, the shelves in our refrigerator used to groan under weight of gallons of that stuff...and Kool Aid...which I also can no longer drink.

In your base, ignoring your logic.

In the American south we drink Sweet Tea, and once you hit anything above halfway through Maryland restaurants don't serve Sweet Tea anymore. I hate visiting my relatives who live in Wisconsin and Rhode Island for that fact.

Me: Can I have some Sweet Tea?
Waiter/ress: We only have iced tea, but we have splenda.
Me: It's not the same, how about a Coke?

Although Rhode Island is the only state you can get Coffee Syrup from and I usually buy the stuff in bulk for when I go back home.

Toasted PB&J sandwich cut up into four triangles with a glass of Coffee Milk(Coffee Syrup and milk) and a few episodes of Tales from the Crypt and I was good to go as a child.

What really amuses me is that here in the South we don't even have "tea" ...we have "Sweet tea" or " Unsweet tea"..

That and we also have Raspberry Tea, Lemonade/Tea, and other Tea variants, but no plain tea because that's just a waste. Its too hot in the south to drink hot tea, so a nice tall glass of sweet tea sitting in a glass with ice, droplets of water slowly sliding down its side, the ice cubes clinking in the glass after a hard day's work is satisfying.

*cough*carpetbagger*cough*

I was born in Connecticut, lived in Illinois till I was five and had the privilege of living in good old Virginia for the rest of my life so far. The reason being my dad got to choose his duty station after the base in Antigua was shut down and he liked it down here, mainly because it was as south you could get before the stores stopped selling Yuengling.

I was born in New Orleans , but have a lot of Family in Biloxi ,MS. and as I said Sweet Iced tea was ingrained into our life.
The first time I ever encountered hot tea I thought it was some strange coffee.

Not really. iced tea is just that, tea in a glass with ice. sweet tea , to me, would be the same thing, just sweetened with whatever you may use. i mix equal and sugar and make it by the gallon.

At least for cold tea, I like some sugar in mine (but not enough to basically turn it into sugar-flavoured tea).

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Though there is a 99% chance that if you order "Iced tea" South of the Mason/Dixon Line you'll be having a glass of "Sweet tea" brought to your table.

Boulevard Wheat with a quarter of a lime crammed into the bottle. Absolutely delicious; I strongly recommend that those of age give it a try sometime if they can find it (It might be a little difficult if you're based in the UK, as Boulevard hails from Kansas).

For non-alcoholic drinks, I really love mixing Orange and Grape Crush together (It ends up tasting like Sweet Tarts; it's thoroughly delicious). I also like pretty much any offshoot of Mountain Dew (though I hate the original), Red Creme Soda is great (I love the taste of bubblegum), and I relish any opportunity to get a Cherry Limeade from Sonic.

It's wretched on its own, but when added to tea instead of water it serves as a less-sickening sweetener than sugar, while also making the overall flavor stronger. It's a less labor intensive alternative to making coffee, which I otherwise prefer.

I heard someone say that they can't tolerate Sweet Tea, someone call zombie George Washington because we have a job to do.

Little is it known that after the tea was dumped into Boston Harbor, a bunch of sugar was also dumped into it. The combination of the cold water, sugar, and tea sparked a revolution seeing as though 1) The tea was wasted, 2) The tea was sweetened, and 3) The tea was cold.

However, Cornwallis was made to drink cold Sweet Tea when he surrendered to the colonial army at Yorktown.
