Yea HaT makes napoleonics too but they're on the lower end of quality, cheap as dirt though

http://www.scalehobbyist.com/catagories/browse.php?pg=1&ppp=24&sb=price&so=a&e=0&sc=64&man=HAT

They're a bit slow when it comes to releases, I saw their Byzantines for over a year now I think and still no progress

Not really. They are of a smaller scale/more realistic proportions than a Cadiian.

Wow been a whole month. Most companies that arent GW arent good at predictions, oh well. The Austrians are finally done!

Finally our Austrians are on release (Hurrah) Sorry for the delays as we know many of you have been waiting for these from the amount of emails we have received!

Orders will start shipping in about 2 weeks as the factory builds up a good amount of stock.

We have added them to the shopping cart so you can buy them individually, or in one of our really great value 3, 5, 7, or 10 box deals. These are a great way to get masses of Austrians on the table without spending a fortune.

We have only just received all the final sprues so images will appear on the site over the next few days of the Grenadiers, Landwehr and infantry in shako’s.

That's because GW has it planned out and ready almost a year before the release if not longer.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

Well they're on preorder. Might take a while since victrix is stocking up (as said it'll take two weeks before they start to ship, then of course the retailer will ship it such as maelstrom)

I like these kits by Victrix. The Austrian army is my favorite from the Napoleonic period. Mediocre but a colorful and tenacious opponent (and occasional reluctant ally) of Napoleon.

What rule sets are folks using for the 28mm minis?

It looks like the Landwehr minis have some figures that are suitable for use as Jägers though the rifle lengths would be a bit odd to purists.

Hmm...and I guess you could use the regular infantry with slight modifications as Grenz Infantry.

Now we need the artillery...

The secret to painting a really big army is to keep at it. You can't reach your destination if you never take any steps.

I build IG...lots and lots of IG.

BrookM,

The rules included inside each set of Victrix miniatures is called "The March of Eagles". You can download them for free from Victrix's web site: http://www.victrixlimited.com/download.php

The web page description mentions that the rules cover infantry vs. infantry and they just added artillery rules too. Still waiting for cavalry rules.

I don't have any of the Victrix minis yet...or even any of the beautiful Perry Miniatures' sets. While I enjoy the history of Napoleonic wars and historical gaming, my previous armies were 15mm scale (French, Prussians, and then a full Corps of Austrians for the Empire III and IV rule sets). I bought the Napoleon's Battles rules but never used them.

These 28mm Victrix Austrians may lure me back into Napoleonics. If only to build, convert, and paint them. The Waterloo campaign doesn't fire my imagination as much as those of 1798, 1805, and 1809.

I may pick up a set of Black Powder. I just don't think I will ever get a chance to use them though. Napoleonic gamers seem to be few and very far between outside of merry old England and the annual Historicon in Pennsylvania (US).

I've used the victrix scottish highlander heads for headswaps for some Guard veterans, and it worked out alright.

Looks like they're finally here!

Finally our Austrians sets are on release. They will start shipping from the factory and home base from 6th September and will start filtering out to direct customers, distributors and retailers. If you have pre-ordered with other retailers dont give them a hard time for the delays. These sets have been bugged by issues not of ours or the retailers making. So appologies for making you wait so long but they are on their way. (Phew!)

Below are some painted samples of all the sets, pianted by Artmaster Studios, Darren at Gripping Beast and Andrew Taylor. We will have more images and some conversions of running, dying, dead, firing which we will also be sending out as a newsletter in a few weeks.

We are really happy with the way these sets have turned out and hope you are to. We have added them to the shopping cart so you can buy them individually, or in one of our really great value 3, 5, 7, or 10 box deals. These are a great way to get masses of Austrians on the table without spending a fortune. Those are pretty well painted, except for the eyes. The eyes! They creep me out! Simply making the iris cover more of the white would have made these fine. Instead, I see crazy Fritz and crazy Hans and crazy bug-eyed Schultze.
"Achtung! Has everyone had their espresso? Gut! We march!"

He's got a mind like a steel trap. By which I mean it can only hold one idea at a time;
it latches on to the first idea to come along, good or bad; and it takes strenuous effort with a crowbar to make it let go.
