Sekminara what you just posted was almost the exact way that my friend plays his lists..... is that you Thad? lol
any way the only difference is that he usually has shadow sun out up front-ish to blast away and any thing that gets close before just assault jumping back into an opening in the onion. and also really likes to do what you said with is etheral:
go ahead and fail his leader ship and have his unit fall back and shoot at me with rapid fire on his turn.
So based on what you all have described to me i think i will go for the horde army, i already got about 80 boys, so why not 100 more lol.
O and for this new 2000pt list i will be maxed out with 6 squads of boyz for troops and alto of you are saying to take something that will draw fire away from the boyz, what do you think i should use.
i personally was thinking of getting a full 15 ork squad of tank-bustas and position them like a wall in-front of a couple squads of boyz... maybe some not behind the kff's
my thinking on this is that the orks behind the tankbustas will get cover so shooting them is more of a priority, and then if anything gets inrange of them they can just blast away, and with 15 missiles, even with ork shooting im going to kill somthing.
the only proplem is that he likes to take at least one tank and could posibly just have them running around with there glory-hog curse

i could have one full squad of kammandos with Snikrot held in reserve, and replace one of the 2 kff with Mad Dok Grotsnik and put him a squad of 'ard boyzs that are lined up across as many boyz as possible:

why not stick mad dok in with the komandoes. gives them fnp and cheap cyborks to make htem ard as nails to kill. thanks to snikrot special rule you can attach an IC to the unit and they still get to ambush in

hum interesting did not think of that GOOfySmiley, and would they get cyborg bodies? i thought that was just for the regular pain boyz in nob squads... still interesting i will work with this.

No he will not kill them all, tau BS is average, so with a KKF you can swamp him. Just head towards his line and taken in what as been said.

mad dok special rule "da big dok" any unit in an army including grotsnik may upgrade to have cybork bodies at 5 points per model
so yea you can even give it to boys though it wouldn't really be worth it makign them 11 points a model... heck you could put a 5 point upgrade on a 3 point grechin for some tough little gechin but also no likely worth it (but probably could be cool looking models)
and he has doc tools so grants the unit he is in feel no pain hence why e can make some tough to kill komandos (though they cost 5 more points to grant the cybork)

Your plan with the grotsnik wall looks good, but you need to drop some boyz for lootas. They will be key in taking out his vehicles without massive casualties. 30 lootas should let you gun down any fishes or other targets of opportunity. With 120 boyz around them, they shouldn't need to worry about stealth teams getting close either. 120 boyz, with 30 of them being ridiculously resilient, should be sufficient to stomp his Tau. What you do is swing your boyz around in a big pincer wall and leave him nowhere to go while grotsnik goes straight at him. You should be in close killing range by turn 3.
For your boyz I'd recommend shootas instead of slugga/choppa. Then if he does fish of fury (using a devilfish to block assault but still shoot under the fish) you can just outshoot him, laughing at his silly outdated dakka. And, shoota boyz will still wipe the floor with anything in the tau codex in CC.

sweet so i can get some tougher orks in with the cybork bodies, cool! Culler with your idea with having the 2 squads of looter would be a great idea, if my friend wouldn't bring so many broadsides, he could just pop a bunch and by turn 2 they would most likely be running off the board, well that's what happened that last 4 games any way lol. But i do like the idea fo moving in a big pincer formation, forcing him not to be able to move anywhere. also if i could get lucky an have the kammandos wait and come in around turn 3 i think it would help allot more, because i could take away more of the rapid firing tau fire warriors when more of my horde is coming into range of them.

I'd also suggest giving the battle wagons at least 2 shootas or somthing even if they never shoot. and agree zoom those bikes up as quick as possible... heck if you found the points I'd take wazdakka over a warboss on a bik, but he's mroe points and might nto be possible at 1500.
I will take those odds with 40 purifiers, in 8 squads of 5 men... just saying =P
On a side note, I think imma make this tau list and see how it does for my needs XD (was already playing the same list more-or-less but wasn't positioning it the same)

I will take those odds with 40 purifiers, in 8 squads of 5 men... just saying =P On a side note, I think imma make this tau list and see how it does for my needs XD (was already playing the same list more-or-less but wasn't positioning it the same) shoot da choppy ones.. if i brought orks vs GK on my greentide... well i'd honestly be pretty boned from the start, but i would try to just dakka ya it is 180 shoota boys 60 str 4 shots 20 hits 10 wounds 3 wounds on a 10 mand squad (and that is for each of the 6 groups of boyz) and hope you run or assault the 2 left... could work but purifiers HURT horde and with my luck on dice id more like hit 10 shots wounds 1 and you'd make the save >_< i was more thinking of what tau could do against 180 boys though other than cower
