Psshh....if I had gotten full points, there's no guarantee we still would have faced off. And if we had, you would have been crushed.

What is HUlk's blog address? Can some condense all this drama into a neat lil history article so those of us who are clueless can follow the drama? And can we get popcorn with that?

I might have asked this before, how many points was the tourney? Did Dash ever get casino dice and did they work for him? What was Hulk playing? Where are you guys from?

To clear up the 4 person group: I was in it. We talked about what happened at the Alamo, some said what they heard about dash, most of us admitted it was probably just perception, and there was a lot of trash-talking about how so and so was going to easily trash dash with their supercool army if they got a chance to play him.

Nothing particularly venomous as I recall. Though we did clam up like a bunch of high school cheerleaders when he walked by, which I found amusing.

It comes down to dash being a bit of a celebrity. If he keeps winning, there's gotta be an underhanded reason - good army and tactics just CAN'T be all there is to it!

Congrats on your victories. Sorry you didn't get best overall. At Alamo I was only a tie-to-a-win away from best overall. Damn you brad smith and your pretty eldar!

Read the context of the statements, it is a real bummer when people gossip at a GT (or in general).

Its a little hard to do that when this is the second event in a row that Dash has attended and drama has surrounded him.

Also, its a tad odd that both players accused of "gossiping" have denied it and the only person who heard them talking was Dash's wife. Outside the venue. When she happened to be the only person within earshot. Right place/right time I guess.

Thanks for basically calling me a liar...

I didn't realize that this would be included in the battle report, but since it is, well whatever. I was mostly talking about the two people I overheard talking about Dash and Hulk and gossiping like little girls. I wasn't really referencing the group of 4, but I did notice that they were talking about Dash.

The reason I was the only one who heard is because I was the only one outside the venue and I've noticed that people tend to overlook one individual and don't guard their words. They never seem to realize that maybe what they are saying could be pertinent to the one person who can hear. I consider it a bonus to be overlooked. You see and hear the most interesting things.

But again, I appreciate the implication that I am lying.

You could try something similar to what you did with your Necrons- an amusing theme. I've noticed that armies don't need to be necessarily painted all that well to score well when voted on by other players, if they have a certain coolness factor or make people laugh. I've lost Best Painted before to an Ork army with no washes or highlights simply because each boy had a big afro and a boombox.

The TO posted on the blog that when they called dice down, he and the other judges did not know (and were not informed by Dash or his opponent) that the wounds caused were rending. If you have a problem with a judge's ruling, take it up with the judge at the event- not on the internet afterwards.

Should be rule #1 of attending any tournament, imho. If you didn't make it clear to the judge who said "Dice down" that the wounds were rending, and required no more dice to be rolled, then of course they're not going to allow it (dice down = no armor save rolls can be made).

And if you say you did make it clear? Obviously you didn't, since the TO posted saying so. Or at least, you didn't make it clear to the people that matter... i.e. the judges at the event.

Here's the post from the TO:
Uncle Buck wrote:Ok Folks,
Now I am the TO for the event. It is was very clearly stated in the packet that when time is called dice are down. We gave them 1 hour warnings, 30 min warnings 15 min warnings, 5 min warnings, and a 1 min warning. I called dice down as this was the only table left. Now as to Will not picking up his auto dead models, Since I called dice down and no further dice were to be rolled. I did not know at the time that they were rending wounds, neither did the other judge, nor did Dash or Will say that they were rending. In fact we were not told they were rending until after the results for the final table had been posted. All that was said was Will should make his saves. I said no as Dice was down, no more rolling as per the packet.
Now as for sportsmanship, we had a clear yes/no sportsmanship judging system. Here it is:

My opponent was fun to play and I would gladly play them again: 2 pts
My opponent was reasonably knowledgeable of the basic rules: 2 pts
Rule issues were handled and resolved in a friendly manner: 2 pts
My opponent appeared to measure all distances accurately: 1 pt
My opponent put forth a good effort to play in a timely manner: 1 pt

A lot of folks did not read the sportsmanship, and just gave max points. IMHO that was wrong, and tantamount to cheating. If any one did not get max points we spoke to the parties involved about what happened in the game. Ask both Will and CC about their game. We spoke to them privately away from other folks. Dash we did the same to you with your drama with CC.

any further questions can be directed to theheroic28s@gmail.com both cowboy Kenny and myself will be more that happy to answer them. As for the overall postings they can be found here..... http://theheroic28s.blogspot.com/p/railhead-rumbl...

Thanks
Buck

RiTides, where did that come from? None of that is being discussed here, so I'm not sure where its relevant.

It's from page 2 of the comments on Hulk's blog, via the link in your OP. Since you have a comment after it on the blog, I would think that you know where the quote came from.

Of course it's relevant: it's a post by the TO about this very game, and a judge ruling he made on it. How could that not be relevant?

Do you have a reply to this statement by the TO?

This belongs on Hulks blog, not in this forum where you bring it up out of the blue to anyone else reading this.

My comment on this is what terrible management by the TO and the judges - especially given it could be resolved in less than 5 minutes. No player should ever not get the same number of turns as the other.

Yes....I addressed it in the blog. Which is why I'm not sure why you thought it was relevant to bring here.

Honestly, I didn't see that you'd replied to him on the blog (the replies get condensed and have to be clicked to show).

So that's why I brought it up... however, anything relevant to your game on the tabletop is relevant to be discussed here, since you've posted a thread about it. Saying "that belongs on the blog" says to me "don't post a thread about it on Dakka".

It bothers me that you bring up so many rules disputes after the fact, when it should be resolved in-person... hence my calling you out on this issue since I didn't see that you'd replied.

Now that I've seen your reply, I'd say this: if you were that cool about it with the TO, why make such a big deal about it in the bat rep... particularly referring to this statement:
Dashofpepper wrote: I didn't fuss about it because your answer was decisive that the game was over

If you didn't make a fuss about it then, why do so now? But I know I won't get a satisfactory answer to that...

To me, it's very contradictory to reply to the TO basically saying "We're cool" after posting heavily disputing the ruling in your bat rep... hence my saying, resolve it at the event, rather than posting about it online afterwards.

It is possible to discuss a scenario where there was a dispute, disagree with someone and then not hold it against the person.

Indeed. I reported what happened. I didn't grudge their decision then, and I don't now - both of which I made very clear then and now - but I thought reporting on the situation was relevant and interesting enough to mention.

It isn't that confusing... really... well, OK, maybe it is.

But basically, any discussion about anything linked to on Dakka is OK to discuss here.

Ah, I regret my tone in this thread from last night. I was really tired and probably should've just gone to bed instead of logging onto Dakka.

I've apologized to Dash... hopefully no hard feelings.

I do think the points I made had merit- but if I could do it again I wouldn't express them exactly how I did. I won't edit the posts since then the replies wouldn't make sense...

Cheers all
