Tremble in awe mortals for I am returned!

Please accept my apologies for my unexplained absence. A couple of days after my last post I wound up unemployed and after that I got a new job that pretty much sucked all the life and inspiration from me. But now life's smiling again and I've recently regained my inspiration. To placate you fine people I bring pretty pictures. Behold!

Sorry about the last two pics being so dark but I took them a few minutes ago and its getting dark here.
I'll post more later. Bye!

Welcome back and good to hear you're back on your feet!

In terms of the new minis - love the gun on the first guy! The mask-face also looks good - are you going to add cabling to the back of his head? And is that a swashbuckling female?? Clear/brighter pictures, please! I'd like to see the more of the kit you've used in her construction as well as the last guy!

What a nice surprise to see you back. Glad you're smiling again.

The gun on the first chap is exceptionally cool. Also like the vent on his back.

The lady looks interesting and somewhat butch in that picture.

Really like the empire general's head on the guardsman.

Thanks guys.

Remi- I'm glad you like the inq. I think I'm gonna leave the mask as is. I might still add a few inq symbols somewhere . And yes that is a swashbuckling lady adventuress.

PDH- Its nice to be back and even nicer to see you are still active. I've had a blast going through yours and Baiyuns and everyone elses Inq28 threads. Really cool stuff.

Here's some more (and better) pics. I think I'll start with the lady.

I used Isabella Von Carstein as the base. I had to do some serious repairs to get any use out of the model. Worst cast I've ever seen. But it was the last one in the store so I had to make do.
She still needs a lot of work but so far I'm happy.

As PDH already noted the head is from the empire captain and the rest is a collection of pieces from the Cadian and Catachan command kits. The Iho-stick is procreate.

And lastly some more teasers.

Just a test scheme for something special.

Your swashbuckling lady is a badass. Kudos for working with the fINeCaZt product and making it something like that. Also the face - the sweeping motion of the hair and forward movement looks great.

Question - the Elves, are they for Inq? Or a separate project? Either way, like the current scar-face guy and his "twin", and looking forward to how you're going to 40-kay them up. I'd love to use that box for some Mordheim...

The twins are indeed for Inq.
Modifications will include getting rid of the scales on the skirts to make them look like trenchcoat hems, arms from dkok command squad and I'm going to (try) sculpt either simple breastplates or some sort of tactical vests.
Suggestions are welcome.

I haven't really had time to model much this week but I managed to get Rayliss ready for painting.

I'm not completely sold on the base. C&C would be appreciated.

Sounds like an interesting (good!) direction for your twins. Breastplates sounds good as well, but when I saw them, I immediately thought of this:

" target="_new" rel="nofollow">

A long coat, possibly with Les Pacts des Lupes big colonial buttons or a suitably grimdarkified version thereof (kinda like Kal Jericho?). But it sounds very exciting - guy with the scar and neck guard is a definite fav.

In terms of Rayliss' base... I like the pipes. Keep them. I think maybe it's because the mesh is not "grounded"? Perhaps remove some of the pipes to add a solid structure with the mesh as part of that, instead of free-floating by itself?

-Remi

-EDIT- Just took a closer look at Rayliss. Holy hell, the extra bits look good, and your sculpting looks very natural!

I stumbled across this blog by accident, I must say I am incredibly glad I did, your stuff is awesome! I particularly like your swashbuckling lady, but for me the latest incarnation of Rayliss is stunning, just seeps mystery, I love it! The paint is nice too, very refreching colour choices i must say!

Subbed sir! keep it up!

Thank you very much

I've managed to slap some more paint onto Rayliss.

Sorry about the horrible picture quality. I'll change for a better pic when this rain ends so I can get some decent lighting. The color is actually much greener.
I had to add the aquila because the brass basecoat destroyed most of the detail on the gorget and collar (note to self, vallejo brass needs much much more diluting).
I think it might be even better than the original detail... Thoughts?

The swashbuclaress got some more work on her armor too.

Again, sorry for the pic. I'm pretty happy how it turned out. Still needs more work on the cloak and vambraces. Maybe something else too. Not sure yet.
The old guy got an aquila on one shoulderguard and an inq symbol on the other.

Thats it for now. C&C is very welcome as always.

Love the blending on the turquoise-blue coat - so very smooth. I also like the added aquila to his kit. Excellent cover-up without being obvious, and I like the new detail as opposed to the older version.

In terms of our swashbuckleress , the aquila and bands on her bustier/corset chest armor looks good as well. I'm digging the whole mini and watching her come together. Makes me want a pirate lady... I think my one thing would probably to replace or cut down that bolter weapon. Rayliss' weapon was a nice custom build, and I think she could use something unique and custom too, being a corsair.

More please.

More shall you have!

It's actually mostly glazed The pic still isn't the best but I'm working on my photo skills...
I'm pretty happy with him so far. I still need to do the gun and make a base for him but I think he's otherwise finished.
Now that I'm looking at the pic I'm thinking that bone and dark grey would look pretty good on the gun, maybe some gold accents...

Its good to know someones excited about the the pirate lady. Shes brought me nothing but pain and frustration so she'll be finished next I think.
I'm actually happy with the gun.
She was inspired by the Arch-Militant from the Rogue Trader RPG and I've been looking for an excuse to use that master-crafted command squad bolter.
And she had to earn it the hard way...

More soon and C&C is appreciated as always.

I'm back!
Sorry for the lack of updates (again) but we moved a little while ago and most of my miniatures have been packed away.
Good news is that I managed to unpack them a little while ago and I've even completed a two members of the warband.
So let's get on with the story!

Spotting the telltale symbol of the Inquisition on the scum's collar Ghamil quickly regained his composure and fell to one knee.
"Yes lord Inquisitor, I am Ghamil Dnem, Governor of Prekora, General of the Khashir 124th and..."
He was interrupted by what he was pretty sure was a bout of laughter but sounded like someone trying to fix a broken Chimera engine with a dead feline, a wet one at that.
"Tha's rich tha' is! Ol' Fesh a lord!? An' a Inquisitor ta boot! HAHAHAHAHAH!"
"My lord? I'm not sure I...."
"Sorry ta disappoint ya but I ain't the Inquisitor."
Before Ghamil could demand an explanation the man (if it could be called that) turned away, raised his hand to his ear and spoke,
"It's him lord. No assassins I could spot."
Understanding came to Ghamil as two more figures stepped out of the Aquila.

Inquisitor Vicard Rayliss, Ordo Xenos

Rutger Tannhauser, Hauer of the Tyrell 6th

The both still need a few finishing touches but otherwise they are done. I'm pretty happy with them.
The piratess next.
I'll continue the story a bit later.
C&C is always appreciated.

Thanks guys!
The bases still need a finishing touch. I'm gonna pick up some Vallejo water effect today so I can make some small waves and ripples.

I got some work done on the piratess yesterday.

The cape was irritating me so I hacked it off and re-sculpted the whole back.
Made some other small adjustments too, mainly on the right knee and vambraces.
I'll start painting her today so I can get her out of the way. I'm thinking purple or rose with gold armor. Any suggestions?

Here's a bit more of the story.

The man was obviously a little confused but it couldn't be helped. He had to be sure Valdez and his minions hadn't gotten here before him. There was still much to do before he could face them.
He walked up to the governor and spoke:
"Rise Governor Dnem, there's no need for etiquette and posturing. I am Vicard Rayliss of His Holy Inquisition.
"Emperor's blessing on you my lord, Prekora welcomes you." the governor said, rose to his feet and wiped the dust off his clothes,
"Am I correct in assuming there is a reason for this clandestine meeting my lord?"
"You are . I have summoned you here to inform that I have decided to use Prekora as a base of operations for an indeterminate period of time."
"I am honored my lord. I will have a palace prepared for you at once. But I am still slightly perplexed, surely this announcement does not require such secrecy?"
"Right again governor. My stay here must be kept secret. Not even the Arbites of Prekora must know of this, the nobles least of all.
This is why I will be occupying the Bleak House and attaching a liaison to your court."
"The Bleak House! Surely it is not befitting a man of your stature my lord. Perhaps the Arret..."
"I am more than capable of choosing my own lodgings governor. I am also aware of the current resident of the Bleak House. Rest assured she will be dealt with in a way she deserves.
"But my lord! She has..."
"Done nothing wrong? That is for me to decide governor. You have been a loyal servant of the Emperor and due to this I will not punish you for fraternizing with her. Forget you ever knew her."
"Yes my lord."
"Excellent. Return to your palace. My acolyte will be waiting for you. She will be posing as a Rogue Trader in need accommodations until her ship has been repaired and resupplied. Introduce her to your court and keep her close at all times.
Any further instructions will come through her. And never speak of this meeting to anyone. We will not meet again governor. The Emperors blessings on you and your house Ghamil Dnem."
The Governor bowed deep and turned away.
As he watched the governor walk to his transport Vicard Rayliss pondered if he did the right thing informing the governor of his presence.
Maybe it would have been easier to kill him and put a puppet in his stead.

In case that's not enough I took a picture of all my Inq WIPs yesterday

The Piratess (no name yet?) looks great, can't wait to see her painted up completely, I like the feel She gives of: I just finish the bullets on my Bolter to keep You there, while I kill your boss first... then It's your turn Scum!

In the last pic, what's that feral thing on the left?

The Piratess is progressing nicely (she'll get named in the story when I'm finished with her).
I would have gotten more done but I was out with the fiancé most of yesterday.

What do you guys think?

The feral things identity will remain secret for a little while yet.
Suffice to say it's extremely dangerous and of xenos origin. Maybe from the Grendl Stars

She's looking really nice - though I find when I start wanting to throw a model into the dog's bowl (like my recent Inquisitor) I have to start on something else...

It may be the light in the pic, but she needs some more highlights on the skirts and other purple areas - not blatant, but the purples lack 'pop' compared to the other colors.

Also, if you glaze the skin with a thin (really thin!) purple, it will assist the blends which at the moment are a little drastic for skin.

The Inquisitor is a really nice model and the water effects look great! Good luck with the competition!
