So just in time, yesterday I received a pair of hive guard from ebay that needed stripping. I made sure to take some picture.
This is me first taking out them out. I put them into the solution last night at around 11:30. This picture was taken around 9:30 in the morning. About 10 hours. You can see that the paint has already started to peel away. Note that I am wearing a latex glove (no that is not my skin tone). This stuff is relatively caustic and will dry out your skin, but no serious burns though:
My brother couldn't seem to take an in focus shot, so thats the best I got.
Next up is Hive Guard number 1. He had literally less then one minute of scrubbing. The paint just falls away. I didn't get all of it off the base, so I did have to go back and touch that up:
Notice that the purple stuff does tarnish the metal. You could sand this off, but if you are going to paint over it, its not a problem.
And here is my bottle of super clean, along with the bucket I soaked them in (now with less hive guard!). Note the lack of "Castrol" on the bottle:
And finally the end product. Super Clean does eat super glue, so many of their limbs fell off. Make sure to plug up your sink while scrubbing. I had to go fishing in the garbage disposal for an arm:
And there you have it. Super Clean. I will say that these are metal figures (which strip easier than plastic), and they were just base coated, but this does illustrate how easy it is to use this stuff, and its effects.
