Yeah, it's me and my first tat.
I think that Krieger 'Krash' Thrax model is metal. And even if it requires very little converting, doing it with a metal model is a giant pain in the backside. Without having seen him in the flesh, I'd hazard a guess that he's "only" about the size of Thraka anyway.

Oh, I know it'll be a pain to convert an Inquisitor model, but I don't mind just this one time (I've been set on using the model since I first saw it and I don't plan to make a habit of converting metal stuff ). This is the Thrax model unassembled:
http://www.collecting-citadel-miniatures.com/wiki/index.php/File:Inquisitor_54mm_Krieger_Krash_Thrax.jpg
I've read that his arms are more or less the same size as Thraka's PK arm, which gives some idea of his size.

The LOTR models are a lot smaller than the Warhammer models though, but you'll be able to compare sizes when you go to the shop. If the troll is the right size, it could become a cool, if a bit flabby, ork warboss.

I didn't realize it was a model from the inquisitor game. I thought he was an inquisitor from 40K. His arms look like they're taken straight out of the thraka mold, and if he's the same size as Thraka, I'd much rather have just used Thraka, now that he's in "fine"cast resin. Much easier to convert I would guess.

Reading back, thats pretty rubbish, and the Daemon idea is cooler, but you might want to lift some bits from it.
Remember though man, it doesn't HAVE to fit in with the canon. If you think it will be awesome, go nuts!

I am sorry but I would like to point out something about the fluff: There is no such thing as a lone Ork for too long. Orks release spores throughout their life that with time they will start the Ork ecosystem from scratch and all of the orkoid sub-species will begin appearing. I am not sure if that works on a space hulk but it definetely works in a planet.
I'm also not sure if an Ork will be satisfied with his life just hunting livestock. I'm pretty confident that the Ork would turn the place into a warzone so it's pretty hard to think he'd go unnoticed.
It's a cool idea though, it will require quite a bit of work.

SgtSixkilla: For a long time I thought Inquisitor just used 28mm models. And I do agree that Thraka would be easier to work with, but Thrax's legs and general build were more what I was looking for than Thraka's mega-armoured look.
Imagine727: I'll keep that in mind, and good luck with your own efforts!

In the codex it says that orks grow in "pods" (not sure of the exact wording) underground. Not sure where that would be possible on a space hulk. He could have access to a hollowed out asteroid in there of course. Anyway. The specific words I used were more for comical effect than anything else. Little problem guys, can't use those pieces as the plastic type doesn't work well with citadel paint. I will have to use the cave troll, I will replace the excess fat with muscle. But my vision has changed significantly. I now plan to make a boss known as Da Reapa. That title is used due to the scythe like weapon that he will wield, and the black hood he will wear. His abilities may be more weirdboy like than warboss like, so I may make him a weirdboy. I have yet to buy the codex (which I hope to do fairly soon) so am unsure how these units actually work in game. Nonetheless I plan to go forward with my new Idea. I now plan to order all my models from total wargamer (the 22% discount is very handy), and will only go to the shop for paints and other bits and bobs. Soooo, any comments are welcomed, as are any criticism's, and advice is....ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY!

Remember to make the scythe proppa Orky, tho. Big, bulky, made of scrap.
Maybe use a twisted up girder as the handle, (that is, not straight, barely even a 'line' anymore. Like a pipe cleaner after it's been skrunched up and you try to straighten it out again- kinked) and the blade has to be a huge thing, all rusty and choppy and stuff.
Think that guy that Disturbed uses as their mascot.

Maybe you can prime the pieces with a spray primer (like Krylon) before painting them. Hopefully, it would allow the paint to stick. Keep up the good work and you'll have your awesome Warboss in no time flat.

Yeh, I mean, you could honestly just call 'im Tuska. They never say what Tuska uses, so he could certainly be the ork you're making- it would explain his enormous size and the fact that noboy else has seen this massive ork yet.

I think I'll make my own name up for him, but thanks for the suggestion. I'm still having trouble finding something to start him off, I scrapped the cave troll because the flab looked like it was gonna be to hard to sculpt over. The other reason is that £18.50 for one model is kinda steep, even for GW standard. Especially considering the fact that the model ain't even that big. I'll have to keep searching, maybe a custom sculptor might be selling some stuff online for a decent price... I used a Hordes Trollblood model as the base. The model is based on a 60mm base and just towers over Ghazzie.
Here is the page on my blog that talks bout how I converted him up - http://www.thehogsofwar.com/2010/05/ork-big-daddy-conversion.html
