I didn't mind Descent of Angels. Definitely not the best HH book, far from it, but I thought the base ideas were very good.

Read one of the Night Lords books (after enjoying Lord of the Night previously) and had to read the other and listen to Throne of Lies.

Really enjoyed them - great and varied characters and a good story. As has been said he makes you root for the BLords but never lets you forget they are also murderous villians.

Excellent use of non Space Marine characters to help interpret them - even a dash of romance - even if its likely to end badly, very badly........

Enjoyed Helsreach as well.

There's something...it's one of like three 40k series that involve romance to a degree(the others being Cain, Gaunt, maybe something else).

In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only abstinence.

Relationships, romance and sex exist in varying amounts

Cain novels (obviously )
Gaunts Ghosts
Dark Heresy novels
Eisenhorn
Helsreach
HH novels - usually between rememberencers

Unless its a pure SM novel with no human supporting characters its usually there to a greater or lesser degree.

Humanity finds a way and the Imperium needs to keep replenshing its ranks - not everthing is Vat grown

Gathering the Informations.

Quite frankly, the relationship between Septimus and Octavia isn't as "forced" as it is in many of those novels.

It's not something that just happens all of a sudden, it's evolved over the course of the series.

Whilst I don't have any issues with the relationships on the named novels - I do agree that it is handled very well.

It has a desperate and doomed feel to it - esp given the visions at the end of Blood Reaver....... The short interpaly between the two in Thorne of Lies was nice to.

Really looking forward to book 3.

It's a Mary Sue.

Stu is a perfectly acceptable equivalent when speaking of a male character, although it's usually prefaced by Gary or Larry or Marty or some such.

As for Descent of Angels/Fallen Angels, they really need to finish that storyline because otherwise the whole Dark Angels Legion/chapter and their Primarch don't make a lick of sense except the Lion being a stupid donkey-cave.

Hey. We call them "Xenos".

But yes, I do mean that. I always bloody say "Fear the Xenos" and I don't know why.

The whole title is wrong. Shouldn't we be hating the Xenos, rather than fearing them? Our armor is contempt, not soiled pants.

There were some things I disliked about Blood Reaver (and The First Heretic).
Over all, though, I'd say AD-B is about as good as Black Library gets.
I think he's better than Dan Abnett.

Night Lords. More. Now. ADB, you hear me?!

NOOOOOOOOW!!!

fan boy rant done, I found Soul Hunter easily in my top 3 BL books, and I find ADB equal, if not better than in some ways than Dan Abnett.

Let them combine forces...
