IIRC, having Farsight just gives your dudes Preferred Enemy: Orks and free bonding knives.

make no mistake, you still suck in CC(just not as much if fighting orks)

its more of a fluff advantage then an actual one. Preferred Enemy on WS2 individuals doesn't do much.

I'm not sure how you didn't follow it, but okay.

Farsight's troops aren't trained like the standard Tau are. They incorporate close combat regimens, and many of their Fire Warrior Teams actually utilize Pulse Carbines rather than Rifles because of how much more effective they are in close quarters.

They don't say "Okay-- you, you and you--you're going to run at them screaming wildly!"--they say "Okay, when the enemy gets in close--here's what you do to ensure they get dead and you don't".

You said no at first, then explained how they were trained in close combat so i got kinda confused a little, but then i noticed how you said with their own weapon and not like here's your power sword, charge that dreadnaught. lol my bad

Crisis Suits actually arn't that bad in CC. they do have Str5 and a 3+ save(not to mention 2 wounds)

they just won't win against a true CC unit(one with PWs), but they can actually mop small squads of GEQs up.

Is farsight the only crisis suit that is allowed to have a CC power weapon?

He is the only model in the Tau codex that has a PW(and its mandatory because he is a SC that has a set equipment loadout)

1.) Better hq choice, ethereal or battlesuit commander (I personally like both for their cosmetic looks so now I'm looking for actual tabletop action)
2.) Pathfinder with railguns, worth it? Pros/cons to railguns and carbines?
3.) Broadsides or hammerhead? Or both? Which is the better option?
4.).And lastly, with all if the above I want to make my tau city fighters so which options would be best?

Fluff-
1.) Have any taus shown up outside of tau space? Stowaways, merc's?
2.) Do the tau have any knowledge of the eye of terror? If so are there any of them currently fighting there?
3.) Are crisis suit warriors the elite of the tau outside of their battlesuits as well? (Can they suit up in firewarrior armor and still be dangerous)

1. Battlesuit HQs are better and required as 1+ unless you use a named hero that fills the slot.
2. Pathfinders with railguns defeat the purpose of bringing pathfinders. If they didn't require a devilfish I'd say otherwise. In any case you would be better off going for markerlights for others.
3. Both - Broadsides are amazing AT and HHs are a single amazing AT shot coupled with horde control sub-munitions.
4. In urban combat, the Tau use Kroot for most H2H fights.

Fluff -
1. Yes
2. No
3. A Crisis suit firewarrior is a Shas'Ui in a suit. He is a veteran Sgt that graduated from time spent on the line. So yes.

"AM are bunch of half human-half robot monkeys who keep tech working by punching it with a wrench And their tech is so sophisticated that you could never get it wrapped it out" thing a LITTLE to seriously. It also goes "Tau tech is so awesome I wish I was Tau and not some stupid Human" thing.

Nothing says you can't convert them up to look more veterany. Just don't go the ridiculous route of giving them huge honking swords or anything like that.

Your best bet is:
1)Carbines on what you want to call your 'assault' squads. If you can find decent looking knives, get them and attach them on convenient places to get to. Look at the way Special Forces today rig up their gear for examples. Knives are usually done in many of the photos I've seen strapped to the front of a vest with the hilt pointed downwards for easy access.
2)Warpaint. The Fire Caste, especially under Farsight, are very very warlike. They're also very adaptable. Read up on Orks a bit, and find something you think the Tau might be able to use to 'intimidate' the Orks as such. Things like black or blue, crude looking 'skulls' on the helmets would be kinda nice here.
3)Cloaks. Farsight's forces do a lot of ambushes, and at the same time...they're also kind of 'survivalists'. Think of the Fremen from SciFi's "Dune" miniseries.

So in a way, i could almost model my Tau after Navy SEALS, in a way as in they are armed to the teeth and the elite of the elite?

The cloaks is a very interesting aspect to me now that you say that, i'll have to start trying out green stuff so i can make some

The CRASSUS ARMOURED ASSAULT TRANSPORT is what scared Draigo to hide in the Warp in the first place.
The only reason it hasn't hunted him down yet is that it has been busy scaring the Tyranids for funsies.
