Yowza!! Was that provided by GW at the contest (I've never done it but I hear they lay out boxes and boxes of sprues and bits for you to use) or did you have to shell out the cash?

Do you have more pics you can show us?

I bought all of it at my local GW (8th Street in NY) I like to support my local store! It took about 7 months (about 650 hours total)

Nice to see myself in picture 14 and 16 at top. I'm wearing Packers shirt and my friend, Dakka's own DAaddict, in blue.

We played Orks and kicked ass. Good times...

Almost forgot... My close friend and personal painter Mr. Sam Lenz snagged x3 Golden Daemons, Gold in LoTR single, Silver in 40k Diorama, Silver in 40k Squad, and final cuts in 5 other choices. What an amazing run. Link to his blog...

I do love the tables at GD UK, I just wish my store was big enough to actually be abe to go along with a table of our own.

But anyway, at least this year it's the nearby Oxford store making the massive endless table of madness they do each year so we get to do a few steel legion platoons.

Amazing tables there as well, but I think I agree that the scratch buitl tables are much more impressive than the 'look how much terrain we can use' tables.

I play:
Imperial Fists - 9000 pts
Tyranids - 1500 pts

Might have to pop into the store one day if you happen to bring it around, haha. Geez, you must have payed all the stores bills for the next 3 years with all the purchases you must have made for this thing. Can't wait to see it painted either...

Hey... Why DONT you have a thread about this thing? Its glory must be displayed to everyone with functioning eyes, and those without them too

If you come to the shop you can see it and last years Ork landship I built. I will post pics soon. I didn't post any before Gamesday so that it would be a complete surprise.

Some pictures I snapped of our tables before the start of GD. These were done by my store, Showcase Comics, and the BigGunz-NE gaming club.

The storyline had Ahriman leading a Chaos army into the webway in a monstrous ship built by Nurgle, Khorne, and Tzeetch some millions of years ago and 'borrowed' for a quick trip into the webway to raid an ancient eldar shrine, guarded by both Eldar and Dark Eldar.

We did a repaint on them, with more silver/green than yellow/blue, and for the big game, they got mounted on top of giant discs of tzeentch as silver towers.)

GF9 also made the movement trays for our armies. They held 10 and 20 infantry, or 5 terminators. We needed dozens and they cranked out a special order and got them up to us. Great guys to work with.

Amazing stuff Mike!

I saw this beast as a WIP it must be more than 10' long, twice the size of the Ork Cruiser from last year.

Could this be the largest 40k 'model' ever?

That color scheme on the reaver is hideous....
They may be painted well, but my eyes are melting from it.

And it has a twin.) Ahriman is quite happy about your eyes, didn't need the pesky thinks anyways.

The yellow is fine. It's just the flash from the camera in the earlier
pic that makes it seem too harsh.

I saw those titans up close, they looked great. The whole display was pretty insane.

"Orkses never lost a battle. If we win we win, if we die we die fighting so it don't count. If we runs for it we don't die neither, cos we can come back for annuver go, see!"

I dig how in a setting where giant, muscled fungus men ride Mad Max cars and use their own teeth as currency, the concept of little engineering dudes with beards was considered a step too far down the aisle of silliness.

Isn't that like...$6,000 in kits or so?

I mentioned it in another post, but I snickered when they announced this. The man on the mic was getting all amped up and trying to get people psyched about the announcement he was going to make. When he finally announced it...nothing. Dead air. Silence. He was a bit flustered, and proceeded to try and get a Waaagh out of the crowd.

Oh, that post. Yeah, I read it, I thought it was in reference to last years Games Day... damn.

Really, honestly, Chicago sucks. I don't mean the location, or the con, I mean the city. I hate Chicago, with a fiery passion... and as long as GD remains there, I won't be going... In fact, I would sooner go to Nottingham for GDUK than go to Chicago...

The part we were in was great. Nice landscaping, great resturants, nice hotels near the convention center, decent bars. Giordano's deep dish pizza, and two amazing steak houses. That's all I'm looking for.

Bah. Sticky heat is for losers. They need to do this in Seattle where the weather is actually pretty damned nice during the summer.
