And if you have the community for it, Friday Night Magic is big money. Last time I was at GMI was on a Friday night and it was packed in there. At least 100 people, all of whom spent at least $10 to play.

Friday Night Magic is insane here as well. The local shop here probably gets around 40-50 people playing, and they usually have 1-2 other magic tournaments throughout the week. Legacy and whatnot. The Pokemon scene around here is dying down but it used to be pretty huge.

Lots of good advice here. I second the advice to sell snacks, pop, and possibly food if local ordinances permit. I don't buy a ton of product at my FLGS (they don't stock it) but I always make a point of buying at least a pop or two when I game.

Also, I have to point out the importance of details. details, details.

Like spelling "Possible" (as opposed to Possable) correctly and capitalizing acronyms like "FLGS". It's just a typo I realize and this is just a forum, but the little things count and you've got to be really, really detail oriented in business.

All the best with the new venture.

Also along the ideas on soda pop, if you cannot afford a full sized vending machine, you can get a mini fridge with a clear front and place product inside it to sell. That way you can sell bottles of water, energy drinks, whatever you want.

Our local FLGS had a glass display fridge for drinks but they switched to a pop machine. I haven't asked for the full story, but I know they were having some problems from their drink supplier and I think they made the change because the vending company takes care of maintenance and restocking. You likely get less profit per pop, but I have a feeling having a vending company might actually make it easier and you have the attention getting benefit of a big bright machine and pop that's always cold.
