I started playing last year, on my 16th birthday. I had known 40k for quite a while then, but i thought it was too expensive. Well, my friend found out like orks very much, so he persuaded my mother to get me 10 boyz and some kommandoz for birthday. know its 2k, and my brother (15) started the game 2 weeks after me. Hes got 1.5k Eldar. We have then for our part started to introduce the hobby to other friends, and we have now witnessed the birt of a chaos-host, built by an 15-year-old.

LOOK!! a shameless self-promotion! (gasp!)

I didn't start Wargaming (Warhammer 40K) until last year when I was 38.

Uncanny, virtually the same as me, give or take a year - started painting in '85, used the minis as counters/tokens/avatars, call 'em what you like in P'n'P role-playing - WFRP, DnD, Runequest etc etc... I had the rules for RT and WFP (not sure which edition, but they came in a box with 3 separate books) but never played a game until I was 39 (last year)!

My goal for now is to have a couple of decent sized armies for each system painted up.

My first foray into the hobby was with Mechwarrior Dark Age/Age of Destruction when I was about 11. That lasted for a little while but dropped off by the time I was 14. After about four years my friend's new boyfriend introduced me to warhammer 40k in august of '09 and I've been hooked on it ever since. Currently I'm 20.

I haven't really given anything up for it or dropped it for any reason. I haven't exactly been successful in the love department and I've had plenty of time to study and work and still get an occasional game in.

Goals: My original goal was to get a full company of Dark Angels, but now I'm satisfied with collecting enough to be able to play a 2k point game with a pair of TripleWing armies I have planned and a Ravenwing army (which I've almost collected enough for!). Afterwards I plan on collecting a Flames of War army, not sure what yet. Another goal is just to be able to put down a good looking army and not worry too much about the outcome, good armies, good games, good friends.

Angels of Acquittance 1,000 pts 27-8-10
Menoth 15 pts 0-0-0
Dwarves 1,000 pts 3-1-0

I started playing 4 years ago back when I was 10 and some guy from school brought the eldar codex, I fell in love with the space elves immediately and got a big number of them pretty soon.

Recently I started whfb and can't stop!
