Haha! Andillus, you forgot to mention that the only reason you won was that super lucky Bloodthirster kill ... and the fact that you ran your guys away for the entire rest of the game away from the advancing Khorne units.

The final turn had two units of Grey Hunters -- totaling 13 guys in total, running away and being pushed from the table by a massive wall of about 18 Blood Letters, 3 Blood Crushers, 5 Chaos Marines and 7 Khorne Berserkers.

Too bad you didnt post the picture of the final look of the table

I just wanted to win a game. The fact that he blew up both Land Raiders was totally unexpected, but he killed more than half my army by doing that. And didn't really clearly show how outnumbered I was, but here it is anyway:

And indeed, Disturbed does rule.

Hmmm, been a while since we posted a report here... still finishing up Round 3 (which, unfortunately, will probably be our last ).

Chaos vs Tyranids
Base Points: 1000pts
Game Type: Seize Ground (3 Objectives)
Set-Up: Table Quarters
Notes: +100pts to Chaos, and +200pts to Tyranids due to their Food Sources.

Army Lists
Chaos
Spoiler:

Bloodthirster
3x Bloodcrushers
15x Chaos Space Marines (Heavy Bolter, Aspiring Champion)
8x Khorne Berzerkers (Skull Champion with Plasma Pistol, Power Weapon and Personal Icon)
Defiler

Tyranids
Spoiler:

Hive Tyrant “The Infernal”
2x Tyrant Guard
2x Hive Guard
Zoanthrope
15x Genestealers (Broodlord)
3x Tyranid Warriors (Venom Cannon)
10x Termagaunts
Tervigon
Biovore

Strategy
Not sure who's going to win this one – if the Nids win then they're going to attack Connor's food source, and could have a +300pt bonus in every battle – they could take a capital city with that and destroy practically anyone. On the other hand, the forces of Chaos are in a very good position to take the lead if they win (and will invalidate the Nids' attack). I'm not sure who will win, but if I had to put money down on this fight, I'd put it on the Nids.

Deployment
Three objectives were placed – one in each deployment zone and a final one in the middle of the board. The Tyranids set up first, fortifying a building with Gaunts, while the rest of his forces prepared to move forward and attack. He left the Genestealers in reserves. Chaos set up afterward, deploying in the far corner of the board (I set the board up a little differently just to change things up a bit). However, before the Nids could go, Chaos stole the initiative!

Turn 1 – Chaos
The Berzerkers immediately (and appropriately) blasted up the field, while the Chaos Marines decided to do a conga line from their objective to the middle one.

Turn 1 – Tyranids
The Tervigon spawned 16 Gaunts, but immediately crapped out. The Tyranid Warriors moved ahead to meet the Berzerkers, and hopefully capture the middle objective. They fired their weapons at the Berzerkers, but only managed to kill 1 of them.

Turn 2 – Chaos
The Bloodcrushers arrived this turn, landing 6” away from the Berzerkers, blocking the Warriors from the middle objective. The Berzerkers then moved to the middle objective, capturing it. In the shooting phase, the Defiler fired at the spawned Gaunts, vapourizing 6 of them in the blast. The Warriors also suffer 2 wounds from the Chaos Marines' heavy bolter. Unfortunately, the Berzerker Skull Champion's plasma pistol overheats and kills him (like I said in the previous Chaos report, he did this 2 battles in a row).

Turn 2 – Tyranids
Knowing that he was going to have to deal with them sooner or later, Nick directed his Warriors towards the Bloodcrushers, while the rest of his forces headed towards the Berzerkers. The fight actually goes surprisingly well for the Tyranids – 1 Warrior is killed, and another seriously wounded, but 1 Bloodcrusher is killed in the process. 2 Berzerkers are also shot to death by the Gaunts.

Turn 3 – Chaos
At the beginning of the turn, the Bloodthirster came in. With the Skull Champion melting in a puddle of molten flesh, the Greater Daemon had to arrive in range of the Aspiring Champion's personal icon. With the Berzerkers losing their grip, the conga line began to move forward again, supported by the Defiler. It fired at the Gaunts again, killing 7 more. The Berzerkers then charged the survivors, killing them all. The Bloodcrushers also managed to finish off the Warriors.

Turn 3 – Tyranids
At the beginning of the turn, the Genestealers showed up, arriving on the Tyranids' right flank. The Tervigon assaulted the Berzerkers, hoping to finally crush them. The Tyrant Lord and his Guards also moved ahead to assault the Bloodcrushers, finishing the squad off without suffering a casualty. The Tervigon had a slightly harder time, killing 2 Berzerkers but leaving 2 more survivors.

Turn 4 – Chaos
The Forces of Chaos began to close in on the Tyrant Lord and his Guards. The Defiler and Bloodthirster prepared to square off against the Tyranids in what would be the match's climactic showdown...

Before we get to that though, the Tervigon manages to finish off the Berzerkers and consolidates onto the middle objective.

Who will emerge victorious...?

Spoiler:

DISASTER!

The Tyrant Lord fails to cause any damage to the Defiler. However, Bloodthirster proves to be incredibly tough, putting out so many wounds on the Tyrant Lord that even his 5+ invulnerable save doesn't do him any good. The Lord goes down under a flurry of blows, while the Chaos forces suffer no losses!

Turn 4 – Tyranids
Trying to rally after the loss of their leader, the Genestealers surged forward. Not much happens this turn, but the Tyrant Guards are squashed by the Bloodthirster and Defiler.

Turn 5 – Chaos
The Bloodthirster and Defiler turn their attention towards the advancing horde. The Bloodthrister heads after the Tervigon, while the Defiler goes against the Genestealers. Meanwhile, the conga line stretches out, reaching the middle objective. The Bloodthirster reduces the Tervigon to 2 wounds, while Nick has uncharacteristically bad luck – his Genestealers fail to damage the Defiler at all, and most of them get squashed as a result.

Turn 5 – Tyranids
With 2 objectives in the possession of Chaos, Nick had to make some quick moves to win the game. First off, he assaulted the conga line with the lone Zoanthrope, dragging the unit off of both objectives, and leaving him with the only captured objective. The Chaos Marines are unable to kill it too, so as long as the game didn't go on for another turn, then Nick had the game in the bag. In addition, the Bloodthirster finishes off the Tervigon. The Broodlord manages to rip the Demolisher Cannon off of the Defiler, but the entire unit is killed afterwards.

They roll to see if there's a 6th turn and...

Spoiler:
It's a 4 – uh oh, things are looking bad for Nick now...

Turn 6 – Chaos
The freed up Bloodthirster and Defiler move towards the Gaunts. The Bloodthirster assaults the Gaunts, and kills most of them. With his last Troops as good as dead, Nick's only option was to force a draw with the Zoanthrope...

Connor strikes at the Zoanthrope and gets a whopping 7 wounds. Nick rolls his saves and gets...

Spoiler:

Holy crap, he saves them all!

Turn 6 – Tyranids
This turn goes by quickly. The Bloodthirster finishes off the Gaunts, and they roll to see whether the Zoanthrope survives another turn. Unfortunately, it isn't nearly as lucky, and is finally killed.

Connor consolidates his Marines onto the middle objective and wins, 1 objective to 0.

VICTORY FOR CHAOS!!!

Consequences
The Forces of Chaos capture the Tyranids' food source, and invalidate the Tyranid attack on their food source. As a result, the Tyranids cannot attack this turn (although, to be fair, Nick isn't available to play anymore so he's basically done the campaign until the last battle now).

“Excellenttttt!”

“Eh... whatever.”

Afterthoughts
Wow, that actually really surprised me. I think Nick definitely had the upper hand until his Tyrant died – and I really thought he was going to win that battle. I really underestimated the strength of a Bloodthirster apparently. Even then, he still would have won the game if it hadn't gone on to Turn 6. I had expected Nick to be the biggest danger in Round 3, but it looks like it's going to be Connor now. Surprising!

Very well written as usual, I like the use of th espoiler tags and you provide just enough detail to follow.

Why is round 3 likely your last?

Thanks, Commander Mont-Tau and Lord Graveline are writing the next couple reports, so hopefully they'll be up soon.

Thank you! I like to avoid getting too wordy, and keep people guessing what will happen next...

And we only had a month to play this campaign since we're all going off to various colleges/universities come September. We definitely should have started earlier... Next summer we're planning a follow-up campaign though, and there's going to be a huge apocalypse game to finish off this one in a couple months when we all get back together again.
