Gorgeous mud effects on that rhino - paints or powders?

Pastel chalks that I grinded down with a nailfile and applied with water. It's a lot "chunkier" then powders, but I like that patchy effect. They are then fixated using pastel fixative.

I LOVE your Grey Knights. I have my own army Re-primed awaiting a new painting style. Any chance i can get you to post the steps you took for their paint job? Simply beautiful work.

A full blog of the making for this army can be found on heresy online: http://www.heresy-online.net/forums/showthread.php?t=87436

It's a bigger blog to run through, but most things are covered in how it's made.

Thanks for the kind words btw folks.

e; as a secondary question, the red on your librarian's robes is really rich and has a lot of depth, what is it?

Just a mix of vallejo game colour gory red, blood red and a bit of shading by adding some black to the mix into the recesses. Nothing too special.

Heh, you've made the same mistake I did with mine. Put the tail wing on backwards.

It's supposed to be like this:

Yeah, I know... Kinda silly, but I left it as it is... It doesn't look too bad, and the damage to the mini to rectify it wouldn't be worth it.
