I'm glad someone else spotted that. It's irking me as that is the second Dread i've seen on here in as many days with that mistake. The correct arm need is this one

My first reaction to the group shot was; "meh, gold, kinda ugly."
Then I scrolled down some more and individual they work great, but don't really like them as a big group. Kinda gets one blurry golden mess.
Maybe that is different out on the tabletop, but just judging from this pictures.

But you just got to love all the work that is put in them. It really pays off.

This is my army that I asked the Jolly Roger Studios to paint up. I've been really impressed by the level of work they have done. When I originally sent them out, I had done the conversion work on the Custodes 'marines' and Land Raider, but I had made such a hash of some bits that I was worried it would show. However it seems from the photos they've done a very good job covering them up.

If you guys are interested the parts I used for the 'marines' are Grey Knight terminator arms, Scibor centurion bodies (someone was saying they might be out of stock but my local store - Dark Sphere in London stocks them if you want them). The bases I got a while back from Microartstudios. The Land Raider is built from a forgeworld early land raider kit with the tops hacked off. The tracks are from Machinator's ebay store. These Custodes overall are quite a bit bigger than regular space marines, but I always wanted a Adeptus Custodes army so they'll do. The dreadnought arms are a mismatch but I got the pair a few years back from Forgeworld before the proper pairs of arms came out - so bear with me on that part.

The army uses the Grey Knights codex, with the weapons attached to some of the models counting as psycannons. Each Custodes 'marine' is meant to represent a Purifier.

Anyway the next part of the army I am really interested to see. There's more marines, a set of pre heresy terminators, a Rogal Dorn figure, and an Emperor figure.

I'll leave the question of price up to the Jolly Roger lot. The base cost of the models themselves is quite a lot, but it was the only way to get the conversions I wanted.

The arms of the shield are a mixture of the grey knight terminator arms for putting on the psycannons and spare terminator strom shield arms. The gun is the regular space marine boltgun chopped off at the gun magazine and the place where the right hand goes. The halberd is from the GK terminator set, and the top part where the gun lies is smoothed down with the spike removed and later stuck onto the gun.

Simple, elegant, and tasteful. Excellent use of Scibor's resin parts and units. This is what an excellent army looks like!

I have one criticism: The treads on the land raider look a little unfinished. Perhaps darkening the mud would help?

The freehand, soot, and basing on the dreadnoughts are my favorite parts. They're wonderfully painted, but it's those little details that make them especially memorable.

Thanks for sharing!

Your army is stunning. My hat off to you kind Sir.

I've have been planning the same army using the same models now for a month. Just in the buying process. I am going with one of the new Comtemptor pattern FW Dreadnoughts as my two elites choices. Did you have any issue with the terminator arms and Scibors shoulder pads?

Again, awesome job. Bravo!!!

Magnificent work! I have never seen such ornate characters for sale by any manufacturer, so I am assuming you added the extra detail yourself....which makes your accomplishment even greater! The color are great, the gilded armor must look incredible on a grass battlefield! The detail on the tanks is perfect and I love the pre-heresy landraider pattern. Definitely an army to be proud of!

Regarding the shoulder pads and the GK arms I had a few issues to begin with. The inside of the scibor pads has quite a bit of resin on it. So much so if you try to even put a Space Marine power armoured arm in it, it will not fit. So the best method I think is to use a surgical blade and literally shave slices of resin off until the terminator arm fits in. In some cases I had to flatten the terminator shoulder to fit it in. There is a gap visibile if you view the models from a certain angle, but I did not want to green stuff it off as I think the shoulder pads on the armour 'hangs' off the marine's arm.

Overall to do one marine took me 20 minutes to do including the gun halberd. The most time consuming models were the ones where the weapon is using both hands to hold the weapon. The distance between the arms is fixed so requires a few revisions to get the gap to something which is visually manageable.

Question: Where did you reap the conversion parts and what were the original models?

Why buy expensive 40k at retail price?

@mythological: it looks like the mud the threads went through was very light, hence the color (judging by the sides of the vehicles)
