I remember the GW I used to go to in Australia played tons of metal. Good times...
Here in france it's a bit more of a mixed bag. Some metal, some rock, and some pop. Funnily enough, these songs usually contain a great deal of cursing.
Which proves you can swear in the store, as long as it's in a foreign language .

Well im a HUGE Red Hot Chili Peppers fan, so pretty much all battles done at my place we have them on ...especially as a new album just came out! haha.
anywhere else we battle usually its some form of drum and bass, just cos i dont like it and my mates are wierdos haha!
Imperial Army: Imperial Guard, Space Marines and Grey Knights

the guy at my FLGS plays country all the time. it's not for me, but it's not my shop and i'm not down there all that often anyway.
if i'm painting, i usually listen to hip hop, bach, electronic or various prog rock. there's lots of mellow, intelligent music out there, and i don't need my ears bleeding anymore. 15 years of playing the drums has aborted any need i might have had to listen to super hard negative angry gak; i just don't carry the anger around that makes me think i need angry music made by thirty-five year old dudes in make-up in my life any more. i'll take melody and finesse instrumentation any day.

When painting that is.
QFT. Classical music is awesome.

I tend to like instrumentals or soundtracks for gaming since lyrics can be more distracting. Lately I've been all about Daft Punk's soundtrack to Tron: Legacy.
Peace is an individual conquest; it has never been a deed of the masses.
"Warp Riders" by The Sword. Whole album is great for 40k
Dirty Harry wrote:I know what you're thinking. "Did he fire six shots or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?
Mainly Hammerfall's stuff, but that's because nothing else really appeals to me as much. Will hopefully be adding some Tyr to my collection in the near future.
Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.
Excerpt from "Seeress of Kell", Book Five of The Malloreon series by David Eddings.
"You need not fear us, unless you are a dark heart, a vile one who preys on the innocent; I promise, you can’t hide forever in the empty darkness, for we will hunt you down like the animals you are, and pull you into the very bowels of hell." Iron - Within Temptation
EDIT: Now that I listen to it again...definitely Fantasy. You can almost see armies marching to the sound of their musicians instruments. The horns add to that effect beautifully.
Awesomely inspiring!

IMHO there should always be something in the background when I'm playing or watching people play I don't really care what music it is, atleast something.. Wargaming without music is just... too tense for my taste Of course I preffer metal music over everything, but I'm satisfied even if the radio is on.. but if the music is Justin Bieber or Rebecca Black...

I like to listen to the Audio Dramas while painting. As for playing I am fan of listening to Movie Soundtracks (LOTR, Tron, Gladiator, Robin Hood, etc...) Daft Punk, in general music that does not have lyrics.

Their is not a better possible song to play any imperial army with.
Holes burn deep in your chest Raked by machine gun fire Screaming skull sent out to die Living mandatory suicide
Suicide, suicide, suicide, suicide
Lying, dying, screaming in pain Begging, pleading, bullets drop like rain Minds explode, pain sheers to your brain Radical amputation, this is insane
